It would appear that William Wallace the defender of Scottish freedom who was famously portrayed by Mel Gibson in the blockbuster hit Braveheart is back; this time in the form of a bingo site Braveheart bingo. Although the film was a roaring success when it was released, it did pick up a fairly dubious award of being one of the least historical accurate films ever made. Nevertheless, this new bingo site will hopefully replicate the success of its similarly named film, and fortunately it won’t be judged by anyone on its historical veracity!

Regular readers may know it takes a lot to drag me away from my laptop and my online bingo and it is only a few TV programmes that manage it. I love a bit of Strictly Come Dancing and Broadchurch recently had me riveted, but this week the new batch of candidates on the new series of The Apprentice have me riveted and doubled up with laughter.

As the new series started on Wednesday I was taking advantage of the huge prizes on offer in the tombola Money Mayhem week in bingo Roulette, or maybe that should be it was taking advantage of me this time as I haven’t won a bean yet! However, it only took a couple of scenes for me to put down my laptop so as not to miss a second of the actual mayhem that was unfolding on screen.

If you haven’t seen the first two episodes try and find them on catch up, they are the perfect tonic for anyone that feels that things may not be going well for them – nothing could be as bad as what this lot of wannabees are going through and how bad they are making themselves look. The girls are more concerned about their make up and high heels and the boys are all very shouty and trying to be top dog.

In the history of the series there has never been as faster volunteer to be a Project Manager than Yaz, but that turned out to be her downfall when she ended up leading the losing side, but along the way she was very ‘jolly hockey sticks’ and motivational and upbeat – it just wasn’t enough.

Of course, I don’t want to advocate everyone stopping playing bingo online completely, lol – but catch this if you can.

I am finding it hard to believe how many new bingo sites have sneaked up on me this week. No matter how close to the ground I keep my ear, the operators are one step ahead of me and they are coming as much as a surprise to me as they are to you.

Even more surprising in my book is how many of these new sites are once again turning to the old faithful Dragonfish software – and mostly without any of the unique, standalone rooms that I thought would be almost compulsory for any new bingo site wanting to make an impression in 2013.

Each new site seems to be successful in its own right – possibly thanks to the generous first deposit bonuses. I personally have a look at them all with a £20 deposit, which I proceed to spend on the slot games and then when that’s gone (usually pretty quickly, lol), I proceed to use the bonus across the huge amount of bingo games. I spend bonus money on higher value bingo tickets than I would ever do with my own cash. Sometimes I win, more times I don’t, but I do get a good feel for the sites – especially good feeling for the ones I win at.

Being available to all would seem to make good commercial sense so players can try each new site for size as it opens, but one new bingo site I haven’t joined is Fierce Bingo. This site has clearly defined its core players as gay and lesbian, promising a dedicated place to meet and make new friends and be open. While I have not joined this site myself I did wonder if it would be able to fully deliver on this promise being part of the Dragonfish network.

Well, we have received at least one review from a player that did join and it would seem that at this early stage the chat rooms are not geared up for just the Fierce Bingo players. Currently being in amongst all the other mainstream Dragonfish players across a whole network of other sites is not what is promised on the tin!

So, while it might look good and the premise is a good one, Fierce Bingo needs to deliver at least a standalone room quickly to cater for the people it promised to entertain before the word spreads.
