Up ’til now I’ve not really been able to see the appeal of the non-networked rooms at many online bingo sites as I believed that they had few players and small prizes and very little atmosphere, but I have to say that this weekend I have had my eyes opened.
These rooms have been featured more and more on WhichBingo recently as sites strive to differentiate themselves from each other. Love Your Bingo is a good example of a site that goes the extra room for its dedicated roomies. Then there is Rehab Bingo that has a thriving in-site community and Virgin Bingo is developing theirs nicely too.
Being a bit short on bingo funds at the weekend I went along to Virgin Bingo to take advantage of the Hidden Treasures free bingo room we had written about earlier in the week and while I was waiting I deposited my meagre £7 onto the site. Needless to say I wasn’t buying many cards and I didn’t hold out much hope of being around long, but I was ironing at the same time and it was passing the time in between shirts, lol.
I opted for the non-networked Marrakesh room as there weren’t too many players and tickets were cheap. With the small amount of tickets I was buying, 6 or 12 tops, I managed to win a few small houses and a few lines, £3 here, £1.50 there, and my balance soon reached £15.
During the evening the pots rose slightly to £20 and a few even got as high as £50 without me really noticing how they were progressing. I still wasn’t maxing as I usually might and can only assume that many other players in the room were playing the same way as me – carefully – because there was a variety of winners and I managed to share a £50 house for a £25 win and then managed to win one on my own for another £50. I ended up with £80!
I know this is peanuts to many that play bingo online, but from a £7 starting point I was more than happy – thanks Virgin Bingo. On top of that everyone was so friendly to say I had never been in that room before and the atmosphere was great. Needless to say I’ll be back as Arnie might say, lol.
