The online bingo world has gone into overdrive in recent weeks trying to come up with offers and promotions and deals that revolve around sporting challenges or medals or bingo games.
However, has anyone noticed that there is very little reference specifically to the Olympic Games within any promotion and definitely no sign of those famous five rings. This is because the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (or LOCOG for short) have been vigorously defending the name and they symbol for at least the last two years.
Back in March the Dragonfish sites like Jackpot Bingo and Hippo Bingo started to advertise their BingOlympic Games to give away a holiday to Disneyworld and to make sure everyone knew they would have plenty of chances to earn free bingo tickets to play. However, a very short time later all references to BingOlympics disappeared and the offer became the Bingo Games.
Now I don’t know if that was because of official intervention, but there is a good chance it was.
More recently and not bingo related, but no less baffling was a little East End cafe in the heart of the Olympic hub of activity wanting to run a competition to give away some tickets to the games, but not being allowed to publicise it and another having to change its name to Cafe Lympic even though it has been the Cafe Olympic for the last four years.
FreeBingo.co.uk clearly feel that their efforts will not attract the attention of LOCOG as they have launched an Eric’s Olympics Tourney today in the newly branded Olympic room. There are games to win and medals to be awarded, but no sign of those famous rings so far thank goodness. This totally free to play online bingo site is offering £20 a day in Love 2 Shop vouchers. Two separate tournaments will take place every day from 27th July to 11th August, each with a £10 voucher prize.
Don’t worry though. Even if LOCOG do get wind of any possible breach those generous people over at FBUK will find a way to give their money away anyway – they’re good like that I’ve found.
