Looking at the TV listings for tonight it would appear that the poor viewer is going to have to do a marathon of TV watching just to see the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games in all its glory.
The coverage starts at 7pm with a countdown to the ceremony, then there’s something like another four hours of the ceremony itself!
Well, the whole thing has been 7 years in the planning so it wasn’t going to be allowed to pass by it 2 minutes was it I suppose?
Now the thing is, not only have the people behind the British Olympic Games had 7 years to plan the event, the online bingo providers have had just as long to come up with Olympic themed events and they have done us proud.
We have highlighted a few on our news pages in recent days, but there is only so much talk of medals and challenges that one can wade through and no doubt new promos on a similar theme will be unveiled over the next few weeks.
Some of the events are quite commendable though. I like the effort that Virtue Fusion has made with its Bingo Games Room. It’s a very innovative idea and the animation makes it really fun.
There are 10 ‘runners’ during each normal 90 ball bingo game and every player gets to choose one before each game starts. Each runner is numbered 0 to 9 and when a bingo ball is called the runner bearing the last digit of that ball moves forward one space on the track. So if ball 24 is called, runner 4 moves forward; number 89 means runner 9 moves forward. The first three over the finish line earn the players that chose those runners a small amount of bonus cash and possibly free bingo tickets for the next game on top of the game prize.
Check it out at online bingo sites such as Boyle Bingo, Virgin Bingo or William Hill Bingo.
Come back and tell me what you think of it. I love it and hope they can find some way of running it even without the Olympic Games link – it’s a brilliant way of offering players something a little extra and a bit different.
