Bingo Hollywood miss a trick with Team Bingo

Monday, July 26th, 2010

Bingo Hollywood is a realtively new bingo site, but has been around for a few months now and seems to be doing a good job of building its profile in the ultra competitive online bingo market. This is even in the face of the the unprecendented number of other new bingo sites that have launched in the intervening three months since Bingo Hollywood first hit our screens.

As well as the great first deposit bonus available on sign up of 300% Bingo Hollywood have a market leading reload offer of 75%, which gives so much more bingo game play for your money. On top of this Bingo Hollywood are not stingy with the SPs (Star Points that is – same as bonus bucks at other bingo sites). The Chat Hosts are constantly playing chat games in most rooms either every game or every other game and there does not seem to be a restriction on the number of times anyone can win.

Recently for instance there was a chat game based on trivia, entertainment and general knowledge run on a tournament basis. For two hours questions were asked every game and the first three bingo players with the correct answer got 3000 SPs each and points, 3,2 and 1. The top three players at the end of the two hours received another 7,000, 5,000 and 3,000 SPs – I wasn’t even there for the full two hours and walked away with 15,000 SPs – that’s £15 free bingo money for having extra fun while playing my favourite bingo games.

Bingo Hollywood have also recently trialled team bingo and this is where I think the site might have missed a trick in encouraging extra bingo game play.

The incentive to join a team was a huge pot of 2 million SPs up for grabs across the four teams. Every time a team member won a bingo game 10 points were awarded to the team tally. The team with the most points at the end of the weekend win a share of 1.25 million SP’s.

The team bingo has run over the last two weekends, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but only between 7pm and 11pm. Now, to qualify for a full share of the prize pot, a minimum of 100 bingo games had to be played, but even I had a life this weekend and tore myself away from my computer screen to spend time with friends on Saturday night. This meant that I couldn’t earn points for the team (Brad and Angelina by the way if anyone’s interested) and couldn’t build up my tally of bingo games.

In addition when a fellow bingo player won a bingo game there was no way of knowing which team they were earning points for unless you kept looking for them on the team boards of if they said which one in chat.

There was so much more opportunity for BingoHollywood to capitalise on both the community spirit that was blossoming in the competitive environment and in encouraging more bingo games to be played by more people if the competition had been allowed to run all through the weekend. I know I would have played more games during the daytime if I had the chance to earn points for my team.

I have just checked the leaderboard and team Brad and Ang were beaten by just 20 points by team Barbie and Ken, but even though my team were second and I did not play a full 100 games I have still walked away with over 11,000 SPs. That’s in affect £11 cashback on my weekend spending and I had a load of fun too.

Anyway, I certainly hope that BingoHollywood run Team Bingo again as it certainly has the potential to be a winner, both for the bingo site and for us the bingo players.

Wonderful Wonder Bingo

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

It looks like the people behind Wonder Bingo on Facebook have come up with a winner. 39,000 people have been playing this great new bingo game and I have been one of them – the sacrfices I make in the name of work – lol.

If you haven’t tried it yet, just log in to your Facebook page and search Wonder Bingo and bookmark it.

It is really easy to get up and running. Once you are in the application prompts will pop up to get everything in place so you can start playing bingo:

- Play bingo – using Daily Credits applied by Wonder Bingo each time you log in. When you win a bingo game you do not receive more credits, but WonderBucks.

- Players buy or send virtual gifts to friends or other players using WonderBucks.

- The more gifts bought or sent elevates your Community Status.

- The higher your Community Status the more free Daily Credits will be applied to your account.

- The more Daily Credits you receive means you can stay and play bingo longer.

That’s all there is to it.

There are speed bingo games and normal bingo games and cards of various cost, not to mention slot games to play on the side.

Everyone is really friendly and the virtual gifts are flying about all over the place.

Can you imagine a ready made audience of 14,000 people for (yet another!!) new online bingo site?

I like 75 ball bingo which is the only variant currently available, but may alienate bingo 90 lovers. I’ve tried a few of the rooms, but my credits are running out too quick as I keep buying the full quota of four tickets.

I think this is a perfect device to get the younger generation to accept online bingo as an acceptable passtime with its Facebook association and you can just use it while chatting to your online friends.

I want to increase our Facebook presence at the WhichBingo Facebook page to make it easier for us to discuss all things bingo – good and bad, vent your spleen about a bad site or rave about a good one.

If you are not already a fan come and join me today – http://www.facebook.com/whichbingouk – I look forward to seeing you there.

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

Readers of WhichBingo UK’s news section will already know that there’s a brand new face in town – Silk Bingo.

Which Bingo’s sources revealed today that Silk Bingo has just launched and is available to play at right now. The WB team were so quick off the mark, they reported the news of the launch before the site was even listed on Google!

The site itself looks like a rather classy establishment, and with 20 free bingo cards upon registration, it certainly seems worth a look.

Balloon boy and train baby put bingo on hold

Friday, October 16th, 2009

I was just settling down to read the latest bingo news, but this morning’s news headlines are full of reports on the little boy feared to have been carried off by a hot air balloon in America and the baby run over by a train in Melbourne.

The two bizarre, terrifying stories both ended happily, with the little boy found in the attic of his house and the baby escaping with only a bump on the head.

After two such harrowing tales, I am definitely in need of some light relief and a bingo game. Fortunately, there is a new TV ad from Sky Bingo to check out today, as well as their £20,000 jackpot game, which costs just 2p to enter!

Let’s hope the rest of the weekend is free from drama and full of bingo!

Dancing dog stars in bingo site ad

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

Bingo site TV ads have a tendency to be slightly odd but I believe Wink Bingo’s latest offering is the most bizarre of the bunch!

Wink Bingo's new TV advert

It begins with a lady innocently enjoying a game of online bingo but once she wins, things get a little bit weird.

Now I’m a big fan of dogs but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t find this one just a little bit disturbing!

Mecca Bingo – king of prizes?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Readers of the WhichBingo News page will have heard about Mecca Bingo giving away a VIP trip to Las Vegas, but is that the best prize ever to be given away by a bingo site?

Over the years, we’ve seen huge sums of cash, trips to exotic locations and even cars given away by bingo sites.

Gala Bingo famously created online bingo’s first millionaire when 62-year-old Pauline Clark from Bristol achieved a full house playing the KerChingo game in 2008.

Personally, I’d have to say the WhichBingo UK Foxy Video competition prizes are pretty dazzling – a £50 Paysafecard plus loads of £20 funded accounts at Foxy Bingo and loads of cuddly Foxy beanies!

What’s the best bingo prize you’ve ever won?

Brand expansion continues with Foxy Street

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

The biggest online bingo sites out there seem to be growing larger by the day and this week Foxy Bingo have launched yet another new brand – Foxy Street.

foxystreetimage

With FoxyStreet.com, the wily old fox has tried his hand at creating an online shopping experience.

The site offers visitors everything from Cameras to Cookery Essentials and Fashion Jewellery to Flowers.

Foxy has also dipped his toes in the casino market with the launch of Foxy Flutter, which features over 60 games including slots, TV gameshows, bingo keno and card games.

Whatever next? Bingo sites opening restaurants? Bingo-themed holiday parks? Watch this space…
