Do you know, I thought I was well past getting excited about the gadgets and gimmicks that online bingo sites come up with to keep us interested and to try and ensure that we return to a particular site on a regular basis.

However, X Bingo has successfully managed to catch me on the hop yet again.

I love its Mega Wheel offer, the daily free game at offers us the chance of between 10p and hundreds of pounds in bingo bonus funds as it has its own progressive jackpot.

There are three rounds to get through for a chance at the progressive, which I might add is currently over £600, but until today the best I had managed was round 2 and a £1 bonus.

Well, today my arrows lined up a second time and I got through to the third and final round. In this one there is a one in four chance of scooping the progressive jackpot! You can win £3.50, £5, £10 or the huge progressive pot.

The wheel was spinning and I thought ‘This is it, my first ever progressive win!’. As it turns out I am still waiting. It landed on £10 and refused to move that last few millimetres to the word ‘Jackpot’ that would have seen me more than £600 better off.

Never mind, I will keep trying and well done X Bingo for such an inventive daily game – made all the better for being free.

Watch out for our X Bingo video coming soon, or pop over to X Bingo to have a look for yourself.

I know that the populations of many other European countries are a bit more outgoing than us Brits, but who knew that we would be quite so reluctant to switch on those webcams to share our bingo playing experiences with other roomies.

However, it appear that this is just what is happening over at Bingo Cams and so they have gone on TV to show that it is ok to have some fun in front of a camera and nothing to be embarrassed about.

The idea went down a storm in Holland where Bingo Cams was first launched and the site couldn’t wait to open a UK bingo version to let us join the fun. As there are still more of us that are playing without the webcam switched on, Bingo Cams are using TV advertising to try and persuade us to give it a try. The message is that when you get used to it you won’t be able to resist a camera.

The ads are a bit of fun, with random ladies barging people out of the way to get on camera in a store and at a tourist attraction, being unable to resist the camera or a bit of a celebration. Both of these things go hand in hand at Bingo Cams and while I am sure that my simple ‘arms in the air’ winning celebrations will never net me the £1,000 monthly live win moment prize, it makes me feel good and hopefully makes other players smile too.

The point about online bingo is having fun and being able to chat with like minded people – with Bingo Cams that premise goes one further with the introduction of the camera. Hopefully these TV adverts will persuade more people to tune in and turn on those webcams. If the campaign is successful I can see the live win moments becoming epic productions of Ben Hur proportions – should be fun to watch.

Sacha Baron Cohen is no stranger to controversy and his Bruno character from the 2009 film of the same name attracted more than most.

The highest profile incident involved a disagreement with a Californian bingo hall user that took offence to the dialogue that was being used during filming and requested the actor to stop.

We reported on the original incident here, but now the matter or Rochelle Olsen vs Universal Studios is at an end and the actor has once again been cleared of any wrongdoing.

Ms Olsen claimed to have been assaulted by the actor after she complained about the homosexual references he made when calling numbers. Universal Studios did say that if she proceeded with the action which they could prove to be unfounded they would bring all their weight behind seeking retribution.

Much of American law has favoured Universal in this matter and it appears that Ms Olsen’s injuries were sustained after the interaction with Sacha Baron Cohen as she had worked herself into a serious emotional state about the matter. Universal will be seeking substantial costs from Ms Olsen and once again Sacha Baron Cohen and his characters, although offensive to many, live to fight another day.

The immediate answer is, I certainly should be with the amount of bingo I play, lol. But that’s not why I am asking the question.

I’m so excited. I’ve just read about Isobel O’Rourke the Scottish lady that has recently won a seat on the plane to Gibralter to take part in the Gala Bingo Ultimate Bingo Championships by playing in her local club and it turns out I might get to go too!!

I’ve rediscovered my local Gala Bingo hall again lately as I was getting stir crazy looking at a pc screen all day and then looking at the laptop all night for my fun! It was very exciting. You can play on paper cards or electronic terminals and it was great mixing with lots of people again all with a love of bingo.

On one of my first return visits the session pack included extra tickets for a special Ultimate Bingo Champion game that will give winners a last chance to grab a seat on the plane.

Of course, I’ve been writing about the Gala Bingo online chances to win a place, but didn’t even realise they were doing it in the clubs too.

Anyway, as the session went on I won the one line and two lines on this special game and as well as my winnings I was left with these special vouchers. It was only afterwards that I realised that they entitled me to two free prize draw tickets at a special Gala Bingo event on 25th September. That means I currently have two chances of being on that plane to Gibralter myself along with Isobel and all the other lucky qualifier winners, both online and land based.

It must be so exciting taking part in an event like that, with big prizes in every game, a lovely sunny location and the chance to win a Las Vegas holiday as well. Keep your fingers crossed for me on 25th September, won’t you.

Well done Gala Bingo – the Ultimate Bingo Championships were an inspired idea and I for one hope you do it again next year!

It was quite an eventful visit to my local Gala Bingo club.

It’s been a while since I have visited a land based bingo hall – it really is amazing how you fall out of the habit of getting ready to go when all you need to do to play your favourite game is sit on the sofa with your laptop!

A friend asked me to go to the local Gala Bingo club last week and I was happy to oblige – I’ll never turn down a good game of bingo.

I decided to use the electronic terminals they offer and having never tried them before I was a bit apprehensive. However, I am happy to report that with, oh, 30 seconds of training I was up and running and ready to play, lol. Yes, it really is that easy.

They are a super little innovation. It is a bit like playing online bingo, in that the cards move around so the best ones are at the top and the machine will tell you when you are waiting for one number and what it is – all you have to do is tap the screen and call when you win. They haven’t invented a machine to do that for us yet!

It was quite an eventful visit. For my £14.50 I won £100, I was three tables away from a lucky lady in my club that won £10,000 on the High 5 full house and the caller made a mistake on one of the games resulting in a double house prize on the next game and an extra full house being played at the end – it was brilliant. Oh, and I also won a chance to bag one of the last seats on the plane to Gibralter to take part in the Gala Bingo Ultimate Bingo Championship.

I loved my win, but seeing the joy and excitement of the lady that won the £10,000 was fantastic – a really feelgood sensation all round that you can never get at home, no matter the size of the prize. She was jumping up and down with excitement and was apologising, she just couldn’t believe it. But that just proves to me it can happen to anyone and I for one will certainly be paying a visit again to my Gala Bingo club in the not too distant future.

The halls are nothing like their old fashioned contemporaries – they are clean and bright with really friendly and well trained staff. You can get hot food and alcohol if you want it – and the prices are reasonable too.

I would recommend a trip to a bingo hall to anyone that may not have been for a while, or indeed may never have been before. If you do, tell me how you get on and whether you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Sun tester loses 1in from bingo wings

Bingo wing banishment must be one of the biggest moneymakers in the fashion and beauty business these days. Every week there is a new product designed to eliminate, reduce or disguise this scourge of the modern woman.

Following on from magic creams that may or may not work to miraculously shrink away that upper arm fat, we are now told in The Sun today that there is a new garment about to hit the shops that will at least temporarily disguise the problem when necessary. This has been partly designed by Mary Portas, who readers may know as ‘Queen of Shops’ from the TV – although why knowing how to run a business translates into designing body contouring garments I’m not sure.

The new weapon in the war against bingo wings is the Charnos ‘Armery’ that will be available from certain House of Fraser stores from tomorrow at a cost of about £18.

Basically this is a pair of sleeves, joined together across the back and made from a similar material to body shapers or ‘Spanx’. This ‘Armery’ can be worn under clothes or on its own to accompany a sleeveless dress or vest and help to boost ladies’ confidence if they are worried about their upper arms.

Personally, I’d rather spend some time in the swimming pool than rely on an £18 piece of material that can only really be used in autumn and winter as it is a full length sleeve. Either that or a few arm swings a couple of times a day with a couple of cans of beans, lol.

I’m sure WhichBingo readers have their own novel ways of keeping the dreaded bingo wings at bay – tell me about them and we’ll publish the best for everyone to try.

I found a couple of Nike 3kg weights in a charity shop and I swing those about a bit. However, as regular readers might remember I have been on a weight loss kick for a while and do attend a Ladyzone ladies only gym for 30 minutes a time, 3 times a week that includes a couple of arm and shoulder machines, so I have a bit of extra help.

Target now reached, by the way, for anyone that is interested – 3 stone lighter than this time last year and 10st 9lb – thanks for asking, lol. That’s despite sitting in front of a computer all day to tell you all about the bingo news and on the laptop at night playing online bingo ‘cos I love it!

Jackpotjoy held their much heralded Garden party and awards at Ragley Hall Estate obn Saturday and, judging by the pictures, it looks like a good time was had by all.

I tried to be there by taking part in some of the Facebook contests that were held that had tickets as prizes, but was not successful. However, I would recommend a ‘like’ for Jackpotjoy to your Facebook page as this is a great way to find about extra offers and for added ways to win.

The community spirit is really strong here too. Much is said by critics of Jackpotjoy Bingo about the people that know each other well and treat the site as their own. However, Jackpotjoy has the sort of loyal and friendly community that many sites would like to build.

Many of these people have been with the site for many years and have had their share of losses as well as wins and would not play their online bingo anywhere else. When we play at a site no-one wants to see fellow players complaining about how much they have lost, especially if they are new to the site.

There is no automatic right to a win wherever or whenever we play, no matter how much we like to think we deserve it and we don’t like to have the fact that losing is a fact of life highlighted to us.

Anyway, lucky bingo game and contest winners all came together on 9th July to see the Queen of Bingo, Barbara windsor and her entourage in all their finery. Fun and games were on offer all over the grounds and of course the obligatory bingo games were played too.

Here is what one lucky attendee, Jolene, had to say: ‘Hi all at Jackpotjoy, I just wanted to sat a BIG, BIG thank you for what you did for me before the party and on the day – it was amazing:O) I had the most Fantastic time there. I could list lots of great things, but we would Be here all day so I will leave it to a Plain and Simple – Massive (( THANKS)) *SO MUCH* lots of love JOJO :O) :O) xxxxxxxxx’

Bingo players and the even Queen herself let their hair down – check out this lol moment I bet Barbara wishes she had avoided!

Not a good look for Babs

No doubt Jackpotjoy will run a similar offer again so be sure to join the site now to get to know all about it and maybe make new friends. Right now there is the chance to win a holiday to Tenerife – so this is one site that does not skimp on the big giveaways.

It’s really true, I’ve seen it in action at first hand – Rock and Roll Bingo could entice a whole new generation into the pubs and the joys of bingo.

If yoy have never heard of Rock and Roll Bingo it is very simple. Instead of a book of numbers you have a card containing 15 different songs and their singers, anything from Frank Sinatra and My Way to Lady GaGa Born this Way and everything in between. Instead of a bingo caller you will hear a piece of pop music. When you hear a song that is on your card, you mark it off. If you are the first to complete a line of songs or to cross off all the songs on your card, you win.

The idea was dreamt up by Mark Walsh and started small in local pubs around Yorkshire. Its popularity spread and Mark now supplies a number of big name pub chains with the game and it’s going down a storm.

I recently went to a Rock and Roll Bingo night at the Bierkeller in Leeds, very popular with students and young office workers. Lovely young ladies do the rounds of the bar selling the tickets and drumming up the enthusiasm of the crowd. The first game starts of relatively quietly until the crowd starts to recognise the snatches of songs being played and singing along for a few seconds.

The compere asks who is getting close and a number of people shout up saying what they are waiting for. If someone calls for a win and they have got a song wrong there are good natured “boos” all round, but also plentiful cheers when someone does win.

The second game of the night is a different story and lots more people don’t feel quite so embarrassed about taking part after they have seen it is actually fun to play. By the fourth game the place was rocking big time.

Mark has hit the jackpot with Rock and Roll Bingo and if you see it advertised at a venue near you, don’t miss out, you will have a great time.

So good work all round I think, but the professionalism that was evident in the production needs to be equalled somehow by the creation of a better atmosphere for The Brits to be on level ground with the Grammys in the future.
Maybe Gary Barlow should take charge, all his events tend to have a bit of life in them and maybe he could include a bingo themed game (we really will never let him forget that he did that once and that we love him for it). Continue reading →

Well, that was the all new Brit Awards! Take That were great, Plan B (Best British Male)put on a great performance and Tiny Tempah got a well deserved two awards (British Breakthrough and British Single – much to his relief apparently), but where was the atmosphere?

It all started lively enough with Take That surrounded by full riot police with shields and police uniform, who all stripped off at the end – not the ladies tops though to the frustration of my male colleagues. Rihanna(Best International Female) tried to lift the mood with her medley and that did cheer the guys up a bit (and again this morning when they were looping it on YouTube!!) and Plan B also had riot police all over the stage.

But that was where the riotous times ended. I thought James Corden was quite nervous to start with and in awe of some of the acts, but settled in eventually, even if some of his subsequent comments were a bit near the knuckle.

However, the focus on the music and not on the egos of the presenters as it has in previous years definitely worked in my opinion.

Take That walked away with Best Group at the fourth time of trying – a feat being put down to the return of Robbie – and a very popular choice.

We like to listen to the radio here in the WhichBingo office and it is good to see some of the most prolific artists that work hard and producing great songs get rewarded. And this is alongside less mainstream artists like Laura Marling, whose profile will not have been harmed by her Best British Female award.

So good work all round I think, but the professionalism that was evident in the production needs to be equalled somehow by the creation of a better atmosphere for The Brits to be on level ground with the Grammys in the future. Maybe Gary Barlow should take charge - all his events tend to have a bit of life in them – and maybe he could include a bingo game of some kind (we really will never let him forget that he did that once and that we love him for it).

Did you enjoy the show? Did the best of the best win? Let me know…

I was beginning to wonder why everyone in the office kept asking me what the lottery numbers were going to be or what the football score was going to be and now I know why.

They had found the Anita’s Predictions app on Facebook and thought that I had abilities I had been keeping from them. I went along to have a look and was amazed at the amount of interest that this has generated.

I thought online bingo was popular, but it has nothing on this ‘lady’ – more likely a roomful of computer geeks on the Indian sub-continent if the language is anything to go by. Very reminiscent of the stylings used on a lot of CozyGames bingo sites I think.

This app has over 300,000 fans and over 1.6million regular users. Many people seem able to interpret what is said to fit with their own lives and who knows how many actually pay for subsequent ‘readings’.

I had a bit of a laugh at it and will probably spend all next week trying to erase all the spam I will end up getting after examining the pages - (stick with the WhichBingo Facebook page instead) – but just want to make it clear (to the boss mainly) that I have not developed special abilities and have not opened this as a sideline. So, sorry guys, we will have to keep working – no guaranteed lottery win this week!
