It has been revealed that the average iPhone user will spend about an hour a week playing games on their handsets and much of this is done during work hours which is bound to have a negative affect on productivity.
Social networking is the primary reason people love their iPhone, with 66% of people surveyed saying this was their main pastime, with 55% quoted as being the number of people that own the phones that have used them at while at work.
The cost to business has been estimated at anything up to £800 million a year, but this could soon increase as more and more online bingo sites go mobile. The latest new bingo site to open is iBingo, who conducted the research, and this site is immediately launching its mobile application to run alongside and complement its online offering.
There are about two million iPhones now in use and that is a huge market that any online bingo company developing a new product needs to be aware of and to provide for. More and more people will be moving away from the pc and the laptop to use the new technology on the go, or on the toilet as the research also found (28% of users), so a mobile app is soon going to be a requirement at all online bingo sites if they want to remain competitive.
The analysis by iBingo, commissioned prior to the launch of their site, was intended to determine exactly how they could meet the changing needs of bingo players. It revealed that only 11% of iPhone users knew that it was possible to play bingo while on the move via sites such as theirs, but that 63% would be likely to do so as it becomes more widely available. For this reason iBingo delayed its launch to ensure that it could provide a state of the art mobile experience as well as an unrivalled online bingo experience.
Ben Crawford, spokesman for iBingo, said: "Through sites such as iBingo.co.uk, players can now enjoy the game while commuting to and from work, in the pub or even at the supermarket checkout. This freedom comes thanks to significant development within mobile technology which now allows us to access the internet far more freely and securely when on the move."
