Online Bingo officially recognised by the gaming community
EGaming Review is a magazine and online portal that takes pride in reporting on all things relating to the world of online gaming. That takes in poker, bingo, slots, casino and sportsbook sites and much more. It never misses any industry news whether it is what is going on behind the scenes or front of house efforts that are in the public eye.
The EGR Awards are keenly contested every year and with 27 Awards up for grabs every aspect of providing gaming news and information for the general public and the industry itself is covered. Compere Rufus Hound was a little overawed by the amount of awards and begged recipients not to give speeches,but to grab the award and run so we could be home in time for Christmas.
Two things became very clear at this year's EGR Awards:
Online bingo is becoming more widely accepted into the world of online gaming and is no longer the 'poor relation' - witnessed by the amount of awards won by online bingo providers. And sportsbook sites do lots of things very well.
Jackpotjoy had an excellent night with three awards - Bingo Operator, Marketing Campaign and Slots Operator - three very important areas for any provider to do well. It will be interesting to see if they can repeat the success in the WhichBingo Site of the Year Award categories.
A couple of our favourite bingo sites were suitably recognised by the EGR panel. Bingo Cams triumphed in the Innovation in Gaming category for putting online bingo players in the picture by using webcam technology while playing bingo online - although Rufus Hound did find it quite amusing that they would want to!
Wonder Bingo was voted as One to Watch for 2012. we can only think this is because of its unique ability to bring players together in a very social atmosphere not present at many online bingo sites and its constantly changing array of games and offers that make it such an interesting place to play.
And of course, our personal favourite - Gaming Review Site of the Year, scooped by the online bingo specialists at WhichBingo UK. That's us of course, and very proud we are too.
Of the 27 awards 9 went to sportsbook sites, including three to Paddy Power and two to bet365, with William Hill Online scooping Operator of the Year, even though they lost out in 11 other categories they were nominated in!
2012 is shaping up to be a great year for the online bingo industry and we are pleased to be at the forefront of that industry and to let you all know just what is happening as it happens.
