Bingo.com Ltd, the company behind the market leading online bingo website Bingo.com, has today announced that it has sold 25.9% of the company to Unibet Group plc. The deal cost Unibet $2.25m and gives them 15 million common shares at $0.15 per share.
The announcement follows the news that WhichBingo exclusively broke in March ("Bingo.com and Unibet join forces to dominate the international market") that Bingo.com were moving their software supplier from Cozy Games to Unibet's platform.
According to the press release, Tarrnie Williams, Bingo.com's genial CEO was quoted as saying "Bingo.com is pleased to have secured a private placement from Unibet. With one of the World's leading gaming operators as both an investor and operational partner, Bingo.com will now have the resources to support its brand in a number of emerging online bingo markets. We very much look forward to taking on a leading role in the expansion of online bingo worldwide."
Petter Nylander, CEO Unibet was also quoted as saying "We believe in the power of the Bingo.com URL and believe that Bingo.com will be a leader in online bingo for years to come. Investing in Bingo.com, one of the strongest bingo brand names in the industry, is exciting for us. We look forward to growing our businesses together in existing and new markets."
The actual switch of software is slated to take place next week and it will be interesting to see how Bingo.com's change in software, and part change in ownership, affects it's offering.
