Gala Bingo High 5 £250,000 win at Colchester

Gala Bingo is well known for giving away massive amounts of cash in its online bingo operation, but every now and again its land based operation steps up to give its sister company a run for its money.

On 2nd June one lucky lady at the Gala Bingo hall in Colchester won a fantastic £135,000 for herself and a share of another £125,000 for each and every one of the other bingo players in the room at the time she called 'house' on the number 5. This gave those lucky bingo goers just over £500 each to take home.

The winner said: “I am absolutely ecstatic with the win. It hasn’t sunk in yet! I’m going to spend the money on home improvements and a holiday. My friend and I have played bingo together at Gala Colchester for 14 years. We’ve always dreamed of winning the big one and we always said that we’d split it between us.
 We were so pleased we called on number five and got to share the jackpot with the rest of the club. We won't stop coming to Gala Bingo though – we love it!”

The big win was possible due to Gala Bingo's groundbreaking High 5 game. The way High 5 works is very simple. If ‘house’ is called on number 5, players can claim 50 per cent of the jackpot, while the remaining 50 per cent is shared by all the other players at the club.  There’s another chance to win if members call ‘house’ on a number ending with a five - for example number 85 - where 10 per cent of the total cash is awarded to that player.

This innovation was introduced after Gala bingo decided not to continue its participation in the National Game, which was the first to enable land based bingo halls to offer significantly higher jackpots.

Don't forget that the special Gala Bingo ‘World Cup Fever High 5’ game will take place in Gala Bingo clubs everyday throughout the World Cup at 2.30pm and 8.30pm.
