Make a date with Mecca Bingo to help Marie Curie Cancer Care

It's great news to us that so many online bingo sites are using their ability to reach so many people that have money to spend on their favourite hobby to ensure that some of that cash helps good causes.

There is the stand out from the crowd permanent partnership of Pink Ribbon Bingo with Breakthrough Breast Cancer, but lots of other sites do their bit to help other charities too.

The big winner from these tie ups is Marie Curie Cancer Care. Marie Curie provide free nursing care for over 31,000 terminally ill people in local communities across the UK.

Lots of bingo sites have done one off events or selected to support Marie Curie with special bingo games and sessions over a month or more. The biggest of these would be Gala Bingo and Crown Bingo that run special games during the month from time to time and Bingo Giving has chosen Marie Curie as its Featured Charity for February 2012.

Bingo Giving on the other hand helps a different charity every month and sets a target of around £1,000 to donate. So far in February its reached 35% of the target, with all the funds coming from players wagers and is a separate percentage to that put into the prize pots. So prizes remain unchanged, it is the site that is making a little less profit from each game to help a worthy cause.

The biggest supporter of Marie Curie Cancer Care, however, is Mecca Bingo. Mecca has chosen to be a partner of the charity for the third year in a row and joins other big names such as Santander, bupa and Camelot as active supporters.

Since the tie up in 2010 staff and players at Mecca Bingo land based clubs, Grosvenor Casinos and Mecca Bingo online have contributed over £600,000 to the cause. The land based clubs stage special events like sponsored bike rides, raffles, tombolas, quizzes and mountain climbs. Fundraising by the online bingo members is a little less strenuous.

The first week of every month is given over to fundraising and there are five special bingo games played every day in the Two Little Ducks room and from these 40p in every £1 spent on tickets is donated to Marie Curie. The tickets are just 25p each, but online bingo players can still win a generous £150 in each game.

It couldn't be easier to have fun and help a good cause at the same time - mark the date in your diary to help Mecca Bingo support this great cause at the start of every month.
