It's always great when an organisation the size of Mecca Bingo throws its weight behind a good cause as it means access to thousands of generous people and a high profile that will hopefully lead to reaching many more. One off events are great, but imagine the benefit to Marie Curie Cancer Care of the ongoing support of Mecca Bingo - a partnership which as now been in place for nearly three very successful years.
Thanks to staff and customers at the 97 land based Mecca Bingo clubs and those of Mecca Bingo online more than £500,000 has now been raised for this great charity.
The aim of Marie Curie Cancer Care is to provide free in home nursing care for terminally ill patients wherever they may be in the UK and every penny counts.
At Meccabingo.com the fundraising takes priority at the beginning of every month in the Two Little Ducks room. From 1st to 7th July from 1pm to 9pm tickets will be 25p each in this room and 40p of every £1 spent on tickets will be donated to Marie Curie Cancer Care. This has already made a significant contribution to the amount raised, but Mecca also throws in other events such as the recent 'Have a Fantastic Day' promo, during which more than £5,000 was raised.
Reaching the £500k mark means a lot to all concerned. Claire Osborne, Head of Digital Operations at Mecca Bingo online, commented: "Itís fantastic that we have reached the £500,000 milestone. The funds raised will help provide 25,000 hours of Marie Curie home nursing care."
Head of Corporate Fundraising for Marie Curie, Arun Sharma, says of the partnership: "We are extremely grateful for the support we have received from Meccabingo.com over the last two and half years. The generosity from customers and team members and the way in which they have embraced the fundraising challenge has been fantastic."
He went on,“The wonderful amount raised will help make a difference to terminally ill people and their families. Giving more people the choice to spend their final days in their own home, the place they most want to be.”
The whole of the Rank organisation, including Blue Square betting and Grosvenor Casinos, is involved in the initiative. When the contributions of the other areas of the business are taken into account the total raised is over £800,000, but it is those generous online bingo players that are ensuring that the fundraising is so successful and helping the figures to the wonderful levels they are.
If anyone wants to join the efforts of Mecca Bingo to raise even more then join now and get a 100% cash match bonus worth up to £50 and access for 5 days to an exclusive free bingo room for newbies only. Then check out the Two Little Ducks room at the start of every month and look out for many more fundraising events during the year.

Coral Bingo has not been around as a bingo brand in its own right for very long, but it has quickly stepped out of the shadows and is making a name for itself in its own right in the competitive online bingo market. So much so that we think it is deserving of the title of WhichBingo Site of the Month for June 2013.
