Official Government statistics show decline in bingo
Official statistics released by the Government show that high street bingo in the UK is very much in decline.
The stats show that since 1997 the amount of bingo halls in the UK has reduced from 650 to the current figure of 460. This shows a decline of 29%.
This news comes not long after Rank Group, the owners of Mecca Bingo, announced that they had reversed the recent slump and profits were in fact up on 2008.
Over the same period the amount of high street casinos is up by 27% to 140.
The results published in the Daily Mail also state both Post Offices and Hospitals are also on the decline, while betting shops and lap dancing clubs were very much on the rise!
