Republicans and Democrats have united to oppose the implementation of anti-online gambling laws in the U.S.
Presidential candidate Ron Paul, a Republican, and Democrat Barney Frank are taking a stand against the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), which has already been criticised for being impractical, lopsided and potentially damaging to the US banking industry and the international online bingo market.
Paul co-sponsored Frank’s new legislation, which would block implementation of the UIGEA by forbidding federal officials from putting it into place.
Paul said in a recent interview: “I believe strongly that the internet should not be regulated by the federal government and believe even more strongly that people should be free to engage in the activities they wish, as long as they are willing to take responsibility for their actions.”
