Winning weekend for Mansfield ladies

Lady luck shone on Mansfield this weekend as the town produced an Olympic gold medallist and an online bingo winner.

While Rebecca Adlington claimed gold in the womens’ 400m freestyle swimming race at the Beijing Olympics, Mansfield mum Pamela Amber landed a £51,544 jackpot at ITV Bingo online.

The 52-year-old bingo player was playing at ITV Bingo’s ‘Coffee Lounge’ when her big win arrived.

She told the Nottingham Evening Post: “I was stunned, didn't really move, giggled, looked again and again and then I got off my chair and screamed.

“I phoned my husband at work and told him the news and he couldn't believe it.”

A trip to Las Vegas and a new kitchen now await for Pamela, who also plans to send her daughter Aimee to university.
