Jackpotjoy Bingo can usually spot a winning game format when they see one as anyone that plays at that site will testify, but they may have been a little disappointed with the reception TV game show Red Or Black?, hosted by Ant and Dec, received last year.
Having decided to get behind the show with a sponsorship deal, Jackpotjoy also launched a series of themed Red or Black? games at the site. The fact that the format of the TV show was subsequently criticised by the Gambling Commission and a couple of the big winners had dubious backgrounds that weren't great selling points for the show wasn't the best publicity. However, to give Jackpotjoy credit they stuck with the their new games games, which have proven to be very popular, and their support and the show is soon to launch again on TV with a brand new format.
One of the biggest changes is that the shows are no longer to be live and are being pre-recorded. In an unfortunate twist the outcomes of the shows are being leaked and it is being said that there has been a contestant that is already £1.5million richer. This time each show has a possible jackpot of £500,000, but if it is not won it rolls over to the next episode. That means that we know that there are at least two shows where we will not see a jackpot being won.
The big news of course is that this means that Red or Black? has created the winner of the biggest ever TV game show jackpot - a record held previously by Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, which was also the first to do so when Judith Kepple won in 2000.
The lucky winner is said to be called Graham and to be a father of three who is a carpenter by trade. However, he will not be able to take full advantage of his good fortune until the show airs in August 'so as not to give the game away' - too late!
The original series was purely luck based with the outcome of challenges resting on the spin of a wheel with red and black segments, so a 50-50 chance of winning. This time the challenges aim to give contestants an element of control over the game outcomes.
ITV refuse to confirm our deny these reports, but certainly the good news will be a boost for Jackpotjoy and the investment it has made in the success of the show.
