UK bingo giants tombola have finally launched a great new mobile version of their popular bingo 90 game.
There have been teasers posted on the tombola homepage for some time now, but having visited their site today via an iPhone we were automatically redirected to a new mobile version of the site.
Rather than the full array of tombola games, such as CINCO and the all new Pirates game, the only game available on the mobile site at the moment is bingo 90.
The mobile games are exactly the same as those being played on the regular website, and players can choose from any of the normal bingo 90 rooms, and join the chat with roomies who are playing on their desktops or laptops.
To test it out, we logged in via a 3G mobile connection and on a desktop connection at the same time.
We both played in the same bingo room at the same time, and everything from the numbers being called, to the chat in the chat window was instantly displayed on the iPhone at the same time as the computer.
Some features, such as sounds, are scaled back a bit for speed purposes. For example, you won't hear the sounds for individual numbers being called.
However, you do get sounds when you get close, like '3 to go' and '2 to go' and when the bingo has been won, and it keeps that tombola feel throughout.
The only downside that we could find to the new tombola mobile site was that it didn't display our account balance when we were in the bingo rooms, so we were not exactly sure how much money we had to play with, but it didn't distract too much from the overall gameplay.
Although we tested the new tombola mobile game on an iPhone, we are led to believe that it is also available on selected android smartphones, as well as the iPad.
We also fully expect, if successful, bingo 90 mobile will pave the way for more and more tombola games to be added to the mobile site over the coming months.
The war for the online bingo mobile space has officially begun.
