Mecca caller named Britain’s best

Mecca Bingo in South Shields can boast Britain’s best bingo caller amongst its staff after Blake Robson won the National Bingo Gaming Association’s Caller of the Year award.

The 41-year-old caller claimed the title at Mecca’s Wood Green club in north London, where he fended off competition from five other regional heat winners.

Emmerdale actress Lorraine Chase presented the award to Mr Robson, who was the recipient of a cheque for £500 and an all-expenses-paid holiday for two to Los Angeles.

The trip will include the opportunity to call the balls at Sun Coast Casino, Las Vegas, a venue frequented by Mr Robson’s musical idol, Elvis Presley.
