Premier Bingo manager Mike Lowe believes taxation on bingo clubs must change if the industry is to survive.
Mr Lowe called for action to rescue bingo clubs hit by the double taxation and a loss of earnings in the wake of the smoking ban.
Members of the Scottish Parliament last week considered a petition lodged by Mr Lowe, urging the Scottish Government to recognise the problems facing bingo clubs.
Mr Lowe told the Fife Free Press: “We pay VAT and Gross Profits Tax (GPT). It’s an unfair taxation system, so what we’re asking is to give us some VAT relief and this would go some of the way to providing bingo operators with some breathing space.
“There’s a good chance that further operators won’t have to close if they do get this.”
