In one of the worst kept secrets in online bingo history, Gala Bingo finally unveiled their exclusive new Coronation Street Bingo game today.
We jumped on and played it straight away, and recorded this video clip of the game in action.
Fred Elliot Calls Bingo, I Say Calls Bingo
As you will see, the visuals are distinctly Corrie, with the bricks and cobbles throughout the room design. You may even recognise the caller too – none other than Fred Elliott, I say Fred Elliott.
I must admit this is a good choice of caller, as that voice is so iconic. However, I couldn’t help think how funnier it would be if they got Ashley Peacock to do the calls instead.
Golden Cobbles Jackpot
The special feature of Corrie Bingo is the additional ‘Golden Cobbles’ Jackpot which offers a number of additional jackpots to win depending on what number is called when you win full house.
As I understand it, the game features a Golden Cobbles ticket, which is the same for every player. When a full house is won on one of the numbers, that player wins an additional £5 and the number turns gold.
Once an entire line, 2 lines or full house has turned gold, the player gets the corresponding jackpot.
So, in the example above, if the next player won full house on number 71, they would get £5. Then the next game the full house was won on number 80, this would score a 1 line win of £30.07.
These jackpots increase progressively until someone wins.
Coronation Street Classic Clips
There are 50 classic clips from Coronation Street that get played during every intermission. The one I saw when doing the video was from so long ago I didn’t know who either of the characters were. Perhaps you do?
It’s a shame that they’ve only done a deal to showcase classic Corrie clips. Imagine how good it would be to get some up to date clips within the game – or even some exclusive clips from the current Corrie storylines.
Now that would be a big draw for many Corrie fans.
What’s the future for ITV Bingo?
This Coronation Street bingo game at Gala is the second exclusive ITV tie-in the bingo giants have secured exclusive rights to, following Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway Bingo, which opened earlier this year.
It makes me wonder what the future holds for the actual ITV Bingo, which for many years has failed to capitalise on any sort of tie-ins with any major ITV show, to it’s own downfall.
