Butlins Prepares to Reopen with Bingo on Board

Lockdown has proved particularly challenging for families with children, many of whom have had to juggle home working with homeschooling. So, it must come as a relief that family holidays will soon be back on the map when the hospitality sector is allowed to fully reopen on May 17th.

As more people are saying that they’d prefer to take their holidays here in the UK this year, Butlins is sure to be at the top of many families’ vacation lists.

The popular chain of seaside resorts is currently getting ready to open its doors next month, with all its activities like pools, zip wires and Splash Waterworlds ready to go. While things might look and feel a little bit different for visitors due to social distancing rules, many activities will still be able to take place, including a brand-new event for 2021 called Bingo Bango.

Bingo Bango promises to be “an exclusive bingo experience, packed full of comedy, games and whacky prizes” involving “party anthems and, of course, bingo”.

While Bingo Bango sounds a little livelier than your typical bingo session down the local bingo club, it’s designed to entertain every member of the family, no matter their age.

You might not be aware, but the Butlins brand has been running bingo games for its customers for several decades. One customer recently posted on the Butlins Facebook page that she has fond memories of playing bingo in the arcades which have since become a diner. Even Dragon’s Den star, Deborah Meaden was once a bingo caller at Minehead Butlins back in the 1980s!

Deborah credits her stint at Butlins with teaching her many valuable lessons that she still benefits from today. She says she did every job you could possibly imagine, including calling the numbers, wiping down the tables, and giving out the prizes, but she says that she “learned the most by dealing with our customers”.
