Evolution Gaming Set to Take Over Big Time Gaming for €450m

The globally renowned live casino and gameshow developer, Evolution Gaming is prepared to pay megabucks to take over the inventor of Megaways, Big Time Gaming.

Evolution has only just completed its acquisition of NetEnt and Red Tiger Gaming, and it has been confirmed that it offered Big Time Gaming around €450m to purchase the company.

The acquisition would not only allow Evolution to profit from any previously developed Big Time Gaming titles, but it would also enable it to charge other software providers for licenses to use its Megaways, Megaclusters, and Megaquads game mechanics.

It’s estimated that Megaways is already used in more than 200 online slots including the likes of Diamond Mine and The Goonies from Blueprint Gaming and Gonzo’s Quest Megaways by NetEnt. It also licenses Iron Dog Studios to produce branded Megaways games for several online casinos and bingo brands including BetVictor, Betfred and BGO.

Last year, Big Time Gaming’s revenues totalled €33m, and its newly developed Megaquads game mechanic which can be seen in its latest video slot, Slot Vegas, is likely to secure the company even more profits through gaining additional licencees.

The brand’s biggest success to date is Bonanza, a 6-reel slot game that features Megaways and a Free Spins Bonus in which players can earn unlimited win multipliers. Although it continues to develop Megaways titles, its Megaclusters game mechanic looks set to be equally popular.

The first Megaclusters game was StarClusters, although Big Time Gaming has since created a further two Megaclusters slots, Cyberslot and Kluster Krystals.

Megaclusters games take the Megaways game mechanic to new levels by allowing players to create winning combinations of up to 16 symbols.

The company’s newest invention, Megaquads goes one further by using four sets of reels rather than just one. Plus, reel sets can also be merged at various points in the gameplay so that up to 8 reels can be active on each spin.
