If you type any given date into Google, you’ll find that there’s a cause for celebration pretty much every day of the year. Some of them are reasonable such as St David’s Day while others are downright kooky like National Awkward Moments Day and Eat What You Want Day.
27th June is a well-established date in the US which marks National Bingo Day, and although it’s previously failed to achieve the same levels of success and interest in the UK, two of the biggest names in the UK bingo industry are planning to change that this year.
Mecca Bingo and Buzz Bingo have been working alongside the Bingo Association in a bid to help British bingo brands recover from the financial toll that the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown has taken on them.
They’ve been asking all licensed online and land-based operators to help them mark National Bingo Day on Sunday, 27th June 2021.
Miles Baron, who worked at Mecca Bingo for 29 years and is now Chief Executive of The Bingo Association and the National Bingo Game, says that he hopes this year’s event will help “bring everyone together to celebrate the great game of bingo that we all love”.
The BA has tasked Mecca and Buzz Bingo with helping to market and coordinate the celebrations in a bid to raise public awareness of both small and large bingo operators.
Buzz’s CRO, Peter Brigden, is particularly keen to accept the challenge. He wants the see “the whole sector embrace it and go big”, as well as “get the nation going bingo crazy again”.
Mecca Bingo’s Catherine Warrilow is equally excited about National Bingo Day 2021. The Head of PR & Content is inviting operators to submit ideas for how to mark the occasion and help the bingo industry recover from a very tough past 12 months.
WhichBingo will certainly be making National Bingo Day one to remember and is wholeheartedly behind the event and will support all the efforts being made to ensure it is a success.
