Here in the UK we are slowly coming to terms with the ‘new normal’ following the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. Here at WhichBingo we are coming to terms with the ‘new normal’ too, which is practically identical to the old normal! So, here ‘as normal’ is our fortnightly round-up of the best new online slot games.
Vampire Senpai (Quickspin)
We are going to start our latest round-up with a bit of an oddity: Vampire Senpai from Quickspin. We say odd because this slot is based in Japan (‘Senpai’ is a way of saying ‘Master’ in Japanese) and Japanese folklore has no tradition when it comes to vampires. If you can put this to one side then you will find a very exciting slot here!
Not only is the gameplay terrific, but we can also applaud the nice little touches Quickspin have added to the game – for example, the way the symbols scream when the Vampire Senpai gives them a love-bite. The slot has a generous grid that’s five rows high plus a beneficial RTP of 96.91%.
Gold Volcano (Play’n GO)
Those prolific peeps at Play’n GO are at it again! You would think with their ‘release a new slots game every week’ pledge the quality of their games would be seriously dipping by now, but that simply does not seem to be the case! Gold Volcano is another example of the excellence releases that Play’n GO continue to put out.
This slot has a very unusual set up in that the reels are arranged in a 3-4-5-6-6-5-4-3 pattern, plus this is a cluster pays slot as opposed to one with paylines. There’s also an avalanche/cascading reels feature but with a twist – the symbols rise up out of the ground as opposed to falling from above!
Each cascading win excites the volcano and if you excite it enough it will explode, filling the whole 8×8 playing area with symbols and hopefully triggering some very nice wins.
Drago Jewels of Fortune (Pragmatic Play)
Now that Game of Thrones has ended (and – according to the fanbase – unmemorable so), dragon fans will need to get their dragon kicks from elsewhere. Dragons have always been popular with online slot developers and here Pragmatic Play has turned to the flying, fire-breathing beasties again for Drago Jewels of Fortune.
This game features a massive number of paylines – 1,600 in total – plus a favourable RTP of 96.5%. Drago sits by the reels and looks cute with his pinky-purple skin, but he still possesses a distinctly menacing glare. This is another slot with an odd set up as the reels have a 5-4-4-4-5 pattern. The game has one excellent bonus factor – landing identical symbols in all four corners of the playing arena can trigger bonus features and chunky payouts!
Wild Pops (Yggdrasil Gaming)
Although Wild Pops has been released by Yggdrasil Gaming the game itself has been put together by a company called AvatarUX. It’s the sequel to PopRocks which was released early this year and kind of slipped under the radar. We’re ashamed to say we missed PopRocks completely but have discovered it to be a really terrific game.
We can safely safe that Wild Pops is just as good as PopRocks, if not better. The game has five reels and three rows but always has a variable number of ways to win, from 486 all the way up to a maximum of 2,048! The game itself has an Asian feel and one brilliant feature – when symbols are involved in wins they pop and are replaced by fresh new ones! Rows are added to the reels too and the benefits really grow when you reach seven columns high!
Golden Genie & the Walking Wilds (Nolimit City)
Slots with a ‘mystic East’ theme have really made a comeback of late. Not only has there been this release, but you should also check out Ali Baba’s Luck that’s yet another slot from Red Tiger. This slot though concentrates upon the famous tale of Aladdin, a serial robber who went around rubbing anything he could get his hands on until he struck gold by rubbing a magic lamp that contained a genie!
With this slot, you won’t be granted three wishes, but you might be granted free spins! The main bonus feature though is the golden genie who, when he lands, becomes a walking wild. This means that with each spin the genie (who substitutes for all other symbols) walks one reel to the right before he eventually shuffles off the reels altogether.
As well as the ‘Walking Wilds’ feature this game has a wins multiplier. The RTP of 94.11% we think though is a little tight.
The wait is almost finally over! In our next round up you’ll be able to read all about the hotly-anticipated Gonzo’s Quest Megaways released by the NetEnt-owned Red Tiger. It’s been almost a decade now since we last saw everyone’s favourite slotting conquistador, so most slots fans are keenly awaiting Gonzo’s reappearance. Will it just be a case of the classic game receiving a simple Megaways makeover, or will there be added bells and whistles?
There are other releases forthcoming too! Check-in for our next round-up in two weeks time to (possibly) hear about Win a Beast from Play’n GO, 24 Hour Grand Prix from Red Tiger and Artefacts: Vault of Fortune from Yggdrasil Gaming.
