In this week’s online bingo round-up, there’s been both good news and bad news for some of the UK’s most popular gambling operators. We’ve seen fines for failing to prevent money laundering and sufficiently protect vulnerable players, as well as new sign-up offers, a free bonus giveaway, and an online bingo rebrand.
Mr Green Gets Hit With £3m Fine
Mr Green has become the ninth online gambling operator to face action from the UK Gambling Commission since 2018.
In this particular investigation, the Swedish-owned online casino has been ordered to pay £3m to the National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms after the Gambling Commission concluded that it had failed to operate in a responsible manner.
One of the major failings included that of one of the casino’s customers who won £50,000 which they then gambled away before making further large deposits with no social responsibility interaction from the operator. Another example was found in a player’s source of funds evidence which was ten years old and showed a much lower sum of funds than the amount deposited.
Although the Gambling Commission did not revoke Mr Green’s operating licence (which it has been known to do with brands such as Moplay), it has instructed the company to pay a £3m fine and strengthen its procedures to prevent harm and money laundering.
Tombola Continues Its Free Bonus Giveaway
The popular online bingo site, Tombola, is continuing to give its members £5 of free bonus money as part of an ongoing promotion. Between now and 30th March 2020, the company is steadily working through the alphabet, and encouraging members whose surnames begin with the relevant letters to step forward and claim their reward. At the time of writing, Tombola has reached the letter P. So, if you’re an existing member who’s yet to be called up, don’t forget to go and grab your free fiver before it’s too late!
Tombola has also recently introduced new deposit limits for both its main site and its Tombola Arcade. To encourage responsible gambling, the sites allow players to set daily, weekly or monthly spending limits. However, there is now a maximum deposit limit of £500 per week which applies to everyone and cannot be exceeded.
Paddy Power Launches New Sign-Up Offer
Over at Paddy Power Bingo, there’s a brand-new sign-up offer to take advantage of.
First-time depositors can now enjoy £40 in bonuses when they add £10 or more to their account. The package consists of a £10 slots bonus with a 20x wagering requirement, a £30 bingo bonus with a 1x wagering requirement, and 40 free spins for the Mystery Reels Megaways slot.
The Newbie Room offer remains unchanged, and it allows newcomers to learn the ropes in a dedicated room where the games are free to play. To qualify, customers must have registered an account and deposited and spent £1 on bingo tickets. Newbies are then granted 10 days’ access to the room which opens from Monday to Saturday between 12 PM and 1 PM and 7 PM and 9 PM, and on Sundays between 7 PM and 8 PM. The prize pools range from £5 to £10.
Bucky Bingo Gets a Makeover
Bucky Bingo came about following the closure of the popular chain of Buckingham Bingo clubs in 2010, and although it initially ran on Virtue Fusion software, it has made the leap to Dragonfish in the hopes that players will gain a greater choice of online bingo rooms and, therefore, a better playing experience.
Now that it’s reopened on 888’s Dragonfish platform, existing players will need to re-register. Funded roomies can now enjoy an exciting range of daily jackpot rooms such as £1,500 Terrific Tuesday and £500 Wacky Wednesday, as well as two free rooms (Sunday Sizzle and Freemium), a 24/7 90-ball room, and an impressive library of video slots, jackpot slots, scratch cards, and casino games.
Monthly special offers can be found on the site’s Promotions page and social media channels while the welcome package includes both bingo and games bonuses plus free spins.
