It looks as though senior managers at 888 should soon get to realise their dream of taking over William Hill’s non-US business. The company first put in a bid to acquire its rival in September 2021, making an offer of approximately £2.2m.
The proposed deal was raised at an Extraordinary General Meeting earlier this week, where over 99% of 888’s shareholders voted in favour of the motion.
It is expected that the acquisition will be completed by the end of June 2022, upon which, 888 will gain ownership of William Hill’s 1,400 UK betting shops, as well as UK and European-facing online brands like William Hill Vegas, William Hill Bingo, and the William Hill sportsbook site.
