A new safety initiative is coming into force thanks to a collaboration between the Bingo Association, BACTA, and the Betting and Gaming Council. The overhaul will see several changes made to the way that UK gaming machines operate, including the way that wins are announced to players. The new code is being introduced following the UK Gambling Commission’s pre-COVID drive to address issues of risk within gaming machine features.
One of the most noticeable changes will prevent auditory and visual win announcements when the player wins less than the amount staked. The same type of change has already been made to online slots over the last year, but land-based machines have not. The Bingo Association’s CEO, Miles Baron says that the Association is “pleased to support” the new code and play a part in strengthening safer gambling protocols.
