From 12th September 2022, UK gambling operators will have to adhere to a new set of rules regarding customer protection. The UK Gambling Commission is already giving the industry the heads-up by issuing fresh guidance ahead of the changes later this year. Its Chief Executive says that he expects “full compliance by September” and wants every gambling business to play a role in preventing gambling harm.
The new social responsibility rules state the operators must implement effective processes and systems that enable “effective customer interaction”. As part of this change, operators must identify at-risk customers, evaluate the situation and act on it as necessary, and ensure that interacting with players is an ongoing process.
