James Jordan writes WhichBingo‘s weekly Strictly Come Dancing column, breaking down the scores, the routines and the results with the bluntness that made him one of the show’s most talked-about professionals.
Few pundits are better placed to judge: James spent eight series on the Strictly floor, joining in 2006 and bowing out in 2013.
Over those years he partnered Gabby Logan, Cherie Lunghi, Pamela Stephenson, Alex Jones, Denise van Outen and Vanessa Feltz — a run that took in a third-place finish with Stephenson in 2010, a semi-final with Jones in 2011 and a place in the 2012 final with van Outen, where they finished joint runners-up.
Along the way he earned a reputation for answering back to the judges, a habit that hasn’t faded.
A ballroom and Latin specialist from Gillingham in Kent, James didn’t start dancing until he was 13, but went on to compete at the highest level with Ola Jordan, placing second in Blackpool’s Professional Rising Stars Latin and third at the British Ballroom Championships. Since leaving Strictly he has appeared on Celebrity Big Brother twice and won Dancing on Ice in 2019.
