Blood & Shadow Slot Review
Blood and Shadow is a five-reel, four-row, and 1,024 ways to win slot game from the developers at NoLimit City.
This slot is the sequel to the hugely successful Book of Shadows slot game and it does not disappoint! You will be transported to a scary cathedral where the shadow girl is creating her rituals in search of eternal youth.
Along the way, there are plenty of bonus features to enjoy including tumbling symbols and a ritual bar that each time you fill will level up and award a new game modifier. The ritual bar also helps you to trigger the candle spins and cursed spins with sticky wilds. Plus, the ability of some symbols to split means you can potentially win up to 6,666x your stake.
If you think this could be the slot game for you, carry on reading our Blood & Shadow review for all the information you need to know about this game.
How to Play
It is easy to get started spinning the reels of Blood and Shadow. Click on the dollar sign to toggle your bet per spin. This can range from 20p per spin up to £280 per spin. Hit the arrow button to send the reels tumbling and see what you can win.
Winning combinations are formed in this slot game by landing three or more matching symbols across consecutive reels. This must start from the leftmost reel.
The symbols on the reels of this game are:
- Raven symbol
- Snake symbol
- Ram symbol
- Wolf symbol
- Triple goddess symbol
- Old woman
- Demon raven
- Demon snake
- Demon ram
- Demon wolf
- Shadow girl
- Skull wild
The shadow girl is the highest value symbol in the base game and she will award up to 8x your bet for five in a winning combination. With the bonus features, you can potentially win up to 6,666x your bet.
There are four special features in the Blood and Shadow slot game including a tumble feature, a ritual bar, a candle spins feature and cursed spins feature.
Whenever a winning combination is achieved, the symbols in that winning combo will be removed from the reels and this allows new symbols to fall and take their place. This can potentially create new winning combinations and award even more cash prizes. It is known as the tumble feature and it only ends when no new winning combinations are formed.
We then have the ritual bar feature and you will spot this below your reels. Each time you get winning combinations of medium value symbols, high value symbols or heart scatter symbols, the ritual bar will start to fill.
Each symbol has its own value that it will add to the bar:
- Medium value symbols – +1
- High value symbols – +2
- Heart scatter symbols – +10
There are different levels to the ritual bar and each time you reach the required number of points, it will level up to a maximum of five:
- Level one – 20 points
- Level two – 30 points
- Level three – 40 points
- Level four – 60 points
- Level five – 80 points
Each time you reach a new level, the lowest value symbol available will be removed for future spins and medium value symbols can be converted into high paying symbols. This means once you reach the higher levels of the ritual bar, the payouts will potentially become much bigger.
Each time you level up on the ritual bar, up to level 4, you will trigger the candle spins feature. You will receive two candle free spins and a skull sticky wild symbol that can land on reels two to five. This will stay on the reels until it forms part of a winning combination.
Once the ritual bar reaches level five, each time it levels up it will trigger the cursed spins feature. Only high value symbols appear on the reels during this feature and you will be playing on five rows which means there can be up to 3,125 ways to win. The sticky wild symbols are also part of this feature and you can get one additional free spin for each heart scatter symbol that lands on the reels. xSplit symbols can be in play here where they have the potential to split rows, reels and symbols.
The game also has a NoLimit bonus feature where you can pay more to trigger bonus features. This is not available to players in the UK.
Graphics and Sounds
Of course, what makes Blood and Shadow stand out from many other slot games on the market is its black magic theme. The backdrop to this slot game is an old, dark, abandoned cathedral with lots of old candlesticks and skulls lying around. NoLimit City has done a brilliant job of creating a scary atmosphere as you spin as creepy organ music and high pitched singing plays. On the reels, the low value symbols include animal symbols while the rest of the symbols relate to the theme with demon versions of ravens, snakes, rams and wolves plus a scary old woman and the shadow girl.
Blood and Shadows is an exceptional slot game from NoLimit City and while the black magic theme will not appeal to everyone, it is undeniable that the graphics look fantastic. Even if the theme is not for you, the large range of bonus features will be! Players can look forward to tumble features, levelling up on the ritual bar and plenty of free spins with sticky wilds. If you love a horror movie and want to spin a terrifyingly good slot game, then Blood and Shadows could be the right game for you.
