Greek Gods Slot Review

Greek Gods is a fairly new slot from Pragmatic Play. This is a 5 reel, 243 ways to win game, and yes, this is indeed a Greek mythology slot, exactly as the name suggests. This is a 96.5% RTP, medium to high volatility game, which means you won’t see wins all the time, but your chances of striking a bigger payout in a short time are higher.

Pragmatic Play has also put in a small handful of bonus features in here and we’ll tell you all about them in this Greek Gods slot review.

How to play

It’s easy to get started with the Greek Gods slot. As with all 243 ways to win slots, there are no paylines and you only need to get 3 or more matching symbols on adjacent reels to start pocketing coins.

Bet size ranges from £0.25 to £125. To set your bet size, use the – and minus buttons by the Spin button on the right side of the screen. This will bring up the menu where you can set your Coin Value, which starts at £0.01 and goes to £0.50. You are always playing with 25 coins a spin. Under Bet, you can set your bet level. Remember, since you are betting with 25 coins each time, Bet 1 will be 25 coins, and a Bet of 2 will be 50 coins. Bets can go up to 10.

After you have set your bet size, you can press the Spin button. Autoplay is located beneath it. You could also just press the Spacebar or the Enter button on your keyboard to start or top spinning.

Symbols in Greek Gods

From the highest to lowest values, these are the symbols in the Greek Gods slot:

  • Zeus
  • Aphrodite
  • Harp
  • Goblet
  • A, K, Q, J, 10

Special Symbols:

  • Wild: Says ‘Wild’ on it
  • Scatters: Blue lightning

As always, the Wild symbol can substitute for all other symbols, except for the Scatter. The Scatter itself can appear on reels 3, 4 and 5 and can trigger the bonus round when you get 5 of them. We’ll talk more about that in the Special Features section.

The RTP for Greek Gods is 96.5%, which is perfectly in line with video slots today. Pragmatic Play places the game in the medium to high volatility range. In the words of the developer, higher volatility slots tend to pay out less than average, but the odds of hitting bigger wins in shorter periods of time is higher. In short, a little bit of patience may pay off and don’t go in expecting a flurry of pennies to roll in.

Jackpot

There is no progressive jackpot attached to the Greek Gods slot. This is a regular video slot and in the base game, you can get 6x your bet size if you get 5 of Zeus symbols, the highest paying symbol. We find this payout to be quite average for 5 high value symbols, but the trick is really to go for it in the special Wheel of Fortune bonus round where you can win up to 1,000x your bet.

Special Features

While the payouts in the base game aren’t the most exciting we’ve come across, there are some awesome bonus features built into the Greek Gods slot.

Random Awards: When you’re in the base game, you’ll see random awards at the top of reels 3, 4 and 5. To claim the award, you’ll need to spin a stack of Scatters to claim the prize posted on the top of the reel. Although it’s not particularly easy for us earthly mortals to spin a reel of Scatters, it is surprisingly not as uncommon as it might sound. The prizes include a cash prize that’s worth up to 50x your bet, a spin on the Wheel of Fortune, as well as a round of Free Spins.

Wheel of Fortune Bonus: When you get a spin on the Wheel of Fortune you can win a prize worth anywhere from 10x to 1,000x your bet size. This feature can also be triggered within the Free Spins bonus round.

Free Spins Features: The Free Spins round is triggered when you have 5 Scatters or more, or through the Random Awards. You’ll get at least 3 Free Spins plus another 1 for every Scatter you have, meaning that you’ll have at least 8 Free Spins. You can get a maximum of 36 Free Spins from the base game, 24 from the Random Awards feature, and 12 from Scatters. Up to 40 Free Spins can be retriggered.

Graphics and Sounds

Greek Gods is a very bright, shiny and golden slot. You’ll find yourself in front of the Gods’ majestic temple on Mount Olympus, almost blinded by all the gold. Maybe that’s why you can’t see Zeus’ eyes, which we found a little creepy at first but we promise it wears off. Aphrodite is gorgeous as always. The overall graphic style of the game is the perfect balance between the grandiosity of the fabled, heavenly masters and the warmth of a cartoon.

Conclusion

The payouts in the Greek Gods slot are not particularly high flying and the game isn’t anything too out of the ordinary compared to the myriad of slot games out there today. However, Greek Gods is still a good looking game with some nice special features with plenty of Free Spins and cash prizes, which are always appreciated.
