Kingmaker Megaways Review
Who would not want to be king for at least a day? Just think, you’d have servants to do all those unpleasant jobs that you just do not want to do like cleaning around the back of the lavatory, and of course you’d have thousands, if not millions of people who love everything about you, just like we have here at WhichBingo!
The Kingmaker Megaways slot will not make you a king, but you might feel like a king once those reels have started to spin. This is another slot from Big Time Gaming that has been given a ‘Megaways’ once-over, but unlike other slots in the series it has not had an extra reel added to it. This slot has five reels, but the reels are arranged in random patterns. The ‘Megaways’ feature in this instance refers to the maximum 16,807 ways there are to win at this game.
How to Play
The Kingmaker Megaways online video slot has five reels, but they do not appear in a consistent fashion. Any reel, when it lands, can have between two and seven symbols upon it. Because of this, there are no paylines as such. To secure a win, all you need to do is land consecutive, identical symbols upon any reel. All winning combinations need to start on the left-hand reel, though.
To start spinning, all you need to do is select your stake. This can be as little as 0.20, or as much as 20.00. All winning combinations are paid as multiples of your stake.
A colourful ‘Wild’ symbol is wild in this game and substitutes for all other symbols aside from the scatter symbol. The wild symbol does not appear on the left-hand reel, though.
- 5 x Purple Dragon symbols = 10 x stake (max £200)
- 5 x Red Beast symbols = 0.7 x stake (max £14)
- 5 x Blue Dragon symbols = 0.6 x stake (max £12)
- 5 x Green Serpent symbols = 0.5 x stake (max £10)
- 5 x Ace symbols = 0.4 x stake (max £8)
- 5 x King symbols = 0.4 x stake (max £8)
- 5 x Queen symbols = 0.35 x stake (max £7)
- 5 x Jack symbols = 0.35 x stake (max £7)
- 5 x Ten symbols = 0.3 x stake (max £6)
- 5 x Nine symbols = 0.3 x stake (max £6)
There is no progressive jackpot featured in this game. The maximum you can win on any one spin is £200 for five Purple Dragon symbols. This though can increase significantly depending upon the status of the gem multipliers (see below).
All four ‘gem’ (i.e non-playing card) symbols have a multiplier meter. During play each meter begins at x1 and rises by one every time you land a five-of-a-kind for that specific gem. In future, all winning combinations featuring that gem are multiplied by the current value of the specific multiplier. Gem Multipliers are only applied during the base game and are reset whenever Free Spins are triggered, or if you change the value of your stake.
A swirling crown acts as the scatter symbol during play. If you land three scatters anywhere on the reels you are awarded seven free spins, with four you are awarded a dozen free spins and with five you are awarded twenty.
During free spins all reels now contain seven symbols. The overall free spins multiplier starts with the combined total of all four gem multipliers (minimum x4). The free spins multiplier increments should any gem five-of-a-kind land, and multiplies ALL winning combinations.
If you land three, four or five scatters during free spins play you are awarded seven, twelve or twenty bonus free spins respectively.
Graphics and Sounds
This game is played accompanied by a swelling, atmospheric pad that we think doesn’t quite fit in with the theme of the game. The reels make appropriate noises when they land, but apart from that the only other noises of note are a drumroll when two scatters land and the other reels are still rolling, plus fanfares whenever something significant is achieved.
Aside from the reels themselves and the slightly wavering flags the rest of this slot’s graphics are static. The reels overlay a graphic of some icy realm complete with a fairy tale-looking castle.
Never mind Kingmaker, you will be hoping that this slot will be a win-maker when it comes to play! This slot is definitely one suitable for an extended play session as although the payouts start out small, they climb once you have amassed a few jewels and the jewel multipliers start climbing. On the negative side, these multipliers are relatively worthless until you achieve free spins after which they really come into their own.
