Hex Bingo is one of several games that’s exclusive to Tombola, and it first appeared in August 2020.
It’s often confused with another type of bingo game called HexaBingo which is made by Relax Gaming, but Hex is only available at Tombola so as long as you visit the right bingo site, you should be fine!
The name Hex might sound a bit offputting, but rather than being named after a curse, it’s actually called Hex as it uses hexagonal shapes in place of bingo balls.
The aim of the game is pretty simple – just mark off all 10 numbers on the (out of 30) to make a full house. However, if you manage to do this within 14 calls, you also win the jackpot!
How to Play
To play Hex Bingo, log in or create an account at Tombola then scan the list of rooms down the left-hand side to locate the Hex room.
When you arrive in the room, you’re asked to choose a stake and the choices that you have are 10p, 25p, 50p £1, and £2.
Next, you must choose a Stakeback Colour from the five different choices available, and if the last number that’s called in the game matches the colour that you selected, your stake is paid back to your account.
The aim with Hex Bingo is to match 10 of your numbers to the 30 that can potentially be called out during a game. The first person to win receives the full house prize, and if multiple players call house on the same number, the prize money is split according to the stake size.
Jackpot
The Hex Bingo jackpot is an extra prize that’s up for grabs in each game.
If you get a full house within 12 calls or less, you’re awarded 10,000 times your stake, and if you only manage to land the full house within 14 calls, you still get 1,000 times your stake.
So, even if you play with the smallest stake of 10p, you stand to win between £100 and £1,000!
Graphics and Sounds
Hex looks far removed from your typical 30-ball game as there’s not a bingo ticket as such. Instead, you have a stack of 10 hexagonal shapes which each contain a number from 1 to 30. Each time that a number is announced that matches the number of one of your hexagons, it’s removed from the screen so that you can see how many numbers you have left to mark off.
The background colour represents the Stakeback Colour that you chose before the game began (i.e. blue, purple, pink, orange or green).
At the top of the screen, you can see how much the full house is worth in the current game and the next game.
A voice announces the numbers as they are dropped onto the screen, and you can either choose to mark the numbers yourself or allow the software to do it for you.
The chat window, which sits on the right-hand side of the screen, lets you talk to the chat moderator and other players.
Conclusion
Hex Bingo is an interesting concept as it offers you all the excitement of a speed bingo game with the added benefit of giving you a 1 in 5 chance of winning your stake back. Plus, with jackpots of up to 10,000 times your stake, there’s a fair bit of cash up for grabs. It’s also great to see that you can choose a stake to suit your budget.
