500,000 Votes and it Came Down to Just 18 – WhichBingo Awards: Behind the Numbers

Nearly half a million votes were cast by real players in WhichBingo Awards 2026 – and with so many votes cast its crazy how close it was.

One category was decided by just 18 votes.

We’ve gone behind the numbers to reveal the other interesting statistics and stories that went into voting.

The Race Decided By Just 18 Votes

Thousands of votes were cast but Best Promotions was decided by just 18.

Foxy Bingo narrowly edged out Virgin Games to win by one of the closest ever margins in WhichBingo Award history.

The winning margin was just 0.05% of the 37,271 votes cast in the category.

What makes this more interesting is that third and fourth also got a solid amount of votes; Mecca Bingo and Heart Bingo were also very much in the race, with thousands of votes each.

This was a four-way contest that happened to finish with two brands almost perfectly level.

The 0.1% Margin for Victory

And if you thought that was close…

Best Playtech Bingo Site was the most-voted category after Best Bingo Site, which makes its margin all the more remarkable.

Buzz Bingo narrowly beat Paddy Power Bingo with only 38 votes separating them from a pool of more than 40,000.

And it wasn’t a two-horse race either. Mecca Bingo, Sun Bingo, and Heart Bingo all got more than 5,000 votes each.

Five genuinely competitive contenders across 12 nominees, with the whole thing decided by less than 0.1% of votes.

A Bingo Three-Peat, and a Dead Heat for Second

Gala Bingo took the top prize Best Bingo Site for its third year in a row with a lead of nearly 5,000 over second place.

So there was absolutely no doubt about the UK’s best bingo site.

But, positions two through five were separated by just 359 votes – from a pool of more than 50,000.

Foxy Bingo, Buzz Bingo, Betfred Bingo, and Heart Bingo all got thousands of votes and each could have won the runner-up spot on different days.

This is a category where one brand ran away at the front while everyone else fought tooth and nail for the remaining positions.

Kings and Queens of the votes

When you add up the vote totals across all categories, Mecca Bingo and Buzz Bingo are neck and neck at the top.

  • Buzz Bingo: 45,010 votes
  • Mecca Bingo: 44,262 votes

Buzz Bingo generated the most total votes while appearing in five categories, which is a true testament to the brand. Heart Bingo’s 32,268 votes across six categories make it the third-largest overall.

The Hosts with the Most

It was a dominant night for Gala, winning Best Chat Team for a second year in a row, to go with their three-peat as Best Bingo Site.

But it wasn’t a given; Gala Bingo beat Buzz Bingo to Best Chat Team by just 155 votes.

From the 37,973 total votes cast, that’s a win margin of 0.41%.

What’s striking about this category is how evenly distributed the votes were across the top six. Each site received thousands of votes – no one ran away with it.

It’s one of the most competitive categories in the entire awards from top to bottom, which says something about the quality of chat teams across the UK right now.

The ‘Blueprint’ For Best Slot Game

Nine games were nominated for Best Slot Game and three of them were Blueprint titles: King Kong Cash, Fishin’ Frenzy Even Bigger Fish, and The Goonies.

Together, those three Blueprint games received 25,348 votes out of 37,848 total. That’s 67% of the voting.

King Kong Cash won with 12,380 votes.

In fact, Blueprint’s three games finished first, second, and third – owning the entire podium.

There was no doubt about the winner though, as King Kong climbed to the top with more than 5,000 votes above second place: Fishin’ Frenzy Even Bigger Fish.

A Helping Hand

Every brand nominated for Best Customer Service got more than 6,000 votes, and this category had the smallest difference between last place and first.

For comparison, some categories had a difference of more than 15,000 from top to bottom, so this was a tight race between top contenders.

Customer service is a key touchpoint with players and it’s clear that players had strong opinions to voice here. , and those opinions were spread remarkably evenly.

The WhichBingo Awards: Final Word from The Editor

“At WhichBingo we are honoured to have this role as a trusted guide and will continue to inform players about the best bingo and casino sites in the UK.”

The tombola table is a British classic, a national institution. And part of what makes it so beloved is that the prizes are, frankly, a lottery. A novelty pen that doesn’t work. A pack of nappies. A cuddly toy. A jar of chutney with a worryingly old best-before date. Whether at your local summer fair or a bingo hall, there’s always a collection of random items (this is key) atop…
