New Inside Series: Bally's Casino Newcastle

Viva Las Vegas… in the North East! WhichBingo visits Bally’s Corporation’s first UK flagship casino in our new two-part documentary.

Bally’s Casino Newcastle is part of the same brand that runs casino resorts across the United States, landing at The Gate in Newcastle city centre back in April 2025.

As one of the most complete entertainment venues in the region, we thought Bally’s would be the perfect addition to our latest Inside series after the success of Inside Real Fun GroupInside Hippodrome Casino, and others.

Coming soon on June 18th, it’s Inside Bally’s Casino Newcastle. Let’s take a look at the venue.

Who Are Bally’s?

If you’ve spent any time on online casino sites in the UK, you’ll likely have come across the Bally’s name already, maybe even our Bally Bet Sports & Casino review. The brand has been in the UK’s online market for a while, but Newcastle marks something different: it was their first land-based casino on British soil.

Bally’s Corporation is a serious player in the US gaming industry. They operate casinos, hotels, and sports betting operations across multiple states, and they’ve brought that big-venue expertise with them. The Newcastle site (previously an Aspers casino) was acquired in April 2025 and reopened following a significant refurbishment. The transformation has been notable. General Manager David Tait, who oversaw the refit, called it “phenomenal.”

What’s on the Gaming Floor

We’ll start where most people start.

The gaming floor at Bally’s Newcastle is well-stocked. There are 40 slot machines from suppliers including Novomatic, IGT and Blueprint, with six Aristocrat machines on the way. Four progressive jackpots are also in play.

For those who prefer live table play, there are live gaming tables covering Blackjack, Roulette, Three Card Poker and Heads Up Hold ‘Em. If electronic suits you better, there are 38 electronic roulette terminals, 30 of which also offer Lucky Lady’s Roulette, Blackjack and Baccarat, with stakes starting from as low as 10p.

The poker setup deserves a mention of its own. There’s a dedicated poker room with its own lounge, set up for both cash games and tournaments. Cash games run throughout the day, and there’s a regular tournament schedule to follow. On Fridays, the Cash Game High Hand Jackpot adds extra interest. There’s also a monthly Cash Dash League for regulars who want something to chase over time. If poker is your game, this is one of the more thoughtfully organised setups you’ll find outside London’s dedicated poker venues.

Sport, Food, and Everything Else

Here’s where Bally’s Newcastle starts to separate itself from a straight casino visit.

The venue has 44 screens showing live sport, including five 100-inch monitors and a 130-inch media wall, plus a dedicated sports viewing area with both a projector and a separate media wall setup. Newcastle United fans will note the venue is just around the corner from St James’ Park — and that draught pints are £4 from midday to midnight whenever the Magpies are playing. Goof for a lot of people on matchday.

Food is available from midday until 3am every day, with an American diner-style menu. Takeaway pizzas are also available for the late-night crowd. The drinks menu covers cocktails including limited edition seasonal options, and there are five bars including The Carling Bar across the venue. From a night “out out” to just grabbing something between sessions, the food and drink setup is practical rather than an afterthought.

The venue is open 24 hours, seven days a week. City centre, free parking for members who are playing, and a cloakroom (for when you don’t want to hold your coat all night).

Membership, Offers, and Value

Joining Bally’s is free. The membership unlocks a range of benefits: sign-up offers for new members, points that can be redeemed across food, drink and play, birthday offers, and member-exclusive discounts. Free car parking is one of the more immediately useful perks for anyone driving in from outside the city centre.

The value-led offers are a smart part of what Bally’s is doing. The Pizza, Pint and Punt bundle is £10. So is the Beer, Burger and a Bet. These are the kind of deals that make a Bally’s visit an evening out rather than just a casino trip which is clearly the intention. The Brunch Cash Match gives you £5 when you play £5, plus a bacon roll and a hot drink on top. Sensible, low-stakes, and genuinely good value.

Regular prize draws and slots tournaments are free to enter and run consistently. Weekend live entertainment adds another layer. If you’re bringing a group where not everyone is a keen gamer, the mix of food, drink, sport and live music means there’s enough going on to keep everyone happy, a point Bally’s themselves highlight as a core USP.

What Makes It Worth the Visit

Bally’s Newcastle is a worthy night out, not neccessarily just a casino visit. There’s a range of live casino games, a proper poker room, endless sport screens, food until late/early, regular entertainment and competitive drink prices, all under one roof in the North East.

It’s also built to be accessible. Staff are described as experienced with both regular players and newcomers, with dedicated player relations staff for regular guests. The venue has in-house door staff and taxis are available close-by.

Bally’s Casino Newcastle is located at The Gate, Newgate Street, Newcastle upon Tyne. It’s walkable from Newcastle Central Station and sits in the heart of the city centre.

The WhichBingo verdict

Bally’s Newcastle is the real deal. As they say, “The American Gaming Experience Has Arrived”. If you’re in Newcastle or thinking about a trip it’s worth putting on the list.

The Inside Bally’s Casino Newcastle series is coming soon. Episode 1 drops Thursday 18 June at 5pm, Episode 2 on Thursday 25 June with our fave host, Charles Shakespeare.
