Part of the Metropolitan Casino Group, it offers all the best land based casino games, including table games, slots and poker, along with high quality food and drink options (including stylish bars and the award-winning James Martin Manchester restaurant), so is an elegant place for a night out in Manchester 7 days a week. It’s welcoming both for serious and casual players, or anyone who just wants a bit of glamour in their life!

Who Manchester235 Casino is best for

If you’re a serious high roller, the high stakes gaming room at Manchester235 is the place to play. It offers the highest maximums in Manchester, and you’ll certainly enjoy the private bar and personalised service. However, you don’t have to have a big bankroll to play here, and there is a great range of games, table stakes and minimum bets to choose from on the main gaming floor.

Manchester235 isn’t just about the casino games though, and if you’re planning a night out with friends you’ll find plenty here to keep you entertained all day, 7 days a week.

Manchester235 Casino History and the building

The historic Great Northern Warehouse is a Manchester icon with a long and varied history. It was a key part of the city’s growth in the nineteenth century, and served the railway, canal and road networks in and around Manchester. Work to turn the site into an entertainment venue began in the late 1990s, with Manchester235 Casino opening in 2006. The exterior may be Victorian, but the interior decor is contemporary, and both members and guests will find the atmosphere lively, vibrant and welcoming.

The Great Northern Warehouse is set in the heart of Manchester at the corner of Deansgate and Peter Street. It features a variety of shopping, dining and drinking options so there are always things to do in and around the precinct.

Casino floor overview

The main gaming floor at Manchester235 Casino is approximately 3,000m2, and features 22 gaming tables, along with slots and electronic roulette games. There is also a separate Poker Lounge, which hosts regular tournaments and cash games.

Manchester235 Casino Gaming Floor

As you would expect, the main gaming floor is the heart of place, so you can expect it to be busy, especially on weekends. However, there are plenty of other spaces, like the Vega Lounge and James Martin restaurant, where things happen at a more leisurely pace. There are also VIP booths for those looking for a more intimate occasion.

Games overview

Manchester235 Casino is probably best-known for having the biggest poker room in the north-west, but there is much more on offer. You can play all the best casino games, like blackjack, American roulette, punto banco and three-card poker in the high stakes room or on the main gaming floor, as well as slots and electronic roulette. Overall, there is a good balance between dealer and electronic games.

Blackjack, roulette and baccarat tables

On the main gaming floor you can play blackjack, American roulette, punto banco and three-card poker. There is a good mix of tables and they are well laid out to make moving between games and in and out of the space easy to do (although at its busiest, you can feel a little packed in).

If roulette is your game, you can also find more than 25 electronic roulette games on the main gaming floor.

Slots at Manchester235 Casino

Slot machines

There are currently around 20 slot machines you can play on the main gaming floor, and you’ll find all the most popular land-based slot game titles, like Pharaoh’s Fortune, Book of Ra and Lucky Lady. Bets range from 20p to £5 per spin, and you can play for progressive jackpots worth up to £20,000. While you’re playing slots, you also get to enjoy free tea, coffee and soft drinks!

Poker

The Poker Lounge is open Monday to Friday 5.30pm – 8am, and Saturday and Sunday 3pm – 8am. The venue hosts regular events, including national and regional tournaments, as well as events on the Party Poker tour.

Cash games are always available, including Dealer’s Choice, No Limit Texas Hold’em and Pot Limit Omaha. Check the website for current antes, buy-ins, rakes and more.

Game quality and betting limits

The table games, slots and electronic roulette at Manchester235 are on a par in terms of quality with other leading UK casinos, with minimum bets that vary from game to game:

  • Blackjack: £2 minimum bet
  • American roulette: £1 minimum bet
  • Punto banco: £2 minimum bet
  • Three-card poker: £2 minimum bet
  • Electronic roulette: £0.10 minimum bet
  • Slots: £0.20 minimum bet, £5.00 maximum bet

Staff and dealers

The staff at Manchester235 are known for being warm and friendly, and as this is a venue that is used to welcoming people who are not regular casino players, the dealers are always willing to explain the games and rules if you’re a newbie. There are also dedicated electronics hosts who are always on hand to provide support when you’re playing slots or electronic roulette.

Atmosphere and dress code

Anyone who has lived in or visited Manchester will know that it has some of the best nightlife in the country, so it’s no surprise that there is always a lively vibe at the casino. During the week it can be a little quieter, but if you’re heading there on the weekend you can expect the place to be buzzing.

Although Manchester235 prides itself on its stylish bars and top-end dining, it’s not at all stuffy so the dress code is smart casual. However, you won’t get in if you’re wearing football shirts, sportswear or workwear (jeans and trainers are okay).

Amenities

The Great Northern Warehouse precinct attracts visitors from all over, and most find their way into the casino at one time or another. This means that Manchester235 caters for a much wider audience than just slots and poker players, and so offers food and drink options that will make any visit a special occasion.

Bars and food

The James Martin restaurant, located on the mezzanine of the casino, is one of the hottest places in Manchester to eat — which is why it’s been nominated as Best Casino Restaurant in the 2026 WhichBingo Awards.

  • James Martin Manchester is famous for its seasonal á la carte menus sourced locally, like Lancashire ox cheek bourguignon, Yorkshire lamb rump and North Coast halibut. There are vegetarian and vegan options on offer too, and you can be guaranteed an exceptional dining experience.
  • Want a bit of glamour? Check out the Vega Lounge, one of the only bars in Manchester where you can get a late-night drink. If classy cocktails are your thing, they’re served every day from 12 noon until 6:00am, or you can enjoy snacks or main meals from 4:30pm until 3:30am.
  • If you really want to push the boat out, why not hire a VIP Booth where you can kick back in your own private space for the night.
  • There are also other places to eat and drink in and around the Great Northern Warehouse too, like Another Hand, Doux Chaton, Impossible and Lane 7 bowling alley.

Accessibility

The casino has wheelchair access into the venue, accessible lifts and access to disabled toilets throughout. There is a free disability guide which can be downloaded from the website.

Metropolitan Rewards is the loyalty scheme on offer at Manchester235. It is free to join and once you’re a member you get access to exclusive offers and 10% off food and drink at all Metropolitan Group casinos (including Alea Casino, Nottingham and Empire Casino, London). You get points every time you play, dine or drink at the venue, and you can join online or in person.

Safety and security

Entry to Manchester235 Casino is free 24 hours a day, and you don’t have to be a member to get in. There’s a smart casual dress code, and jeans and trainers are okay as long as they look tidy.

Manchester 235 operates a Challenge 25 policy, so security will check the ID of anyone who looks like they’re under 25, even if you just plan to come in for a drink at the bar or eat at James Martin Restaurant.

Bags may be checked on the way in, and if you have anything larger than a handbag you’ll have to leave it at reception. They won’t accept luggage in the cloakroom.

As a five star entertainment venue in one of the busiest parts of Manchester, the overall security and safety for members and guests is of a standard to match.
