Paul Gator the Traitors

Secret Traitor Revealed, But Does it Work? Paul Gorton Weighs in

Former Traitors contestant Paul Gorton has been closely watching the latest season unfold and with the introduction of the secret Traitor twist, he believes the game has entered one of its most dangerous phases yet.

Speaking to WhichBingo, Paul breaks down what’s happened so far, why certain players are now at serious risk, and whether the twist actually works.

What has happened so far in the season?

The current season of The Traitors has already delivered high tension and early chaos. With alliances still forming and suspicion spreading quickly, the Traitors have been forced to play aggressively while Faithfuls scramble to make sense of limited information. Two Traitors have already been caught out and banished, proving that early confidence can be just as dangerous as silence.

The biggest shake-up so far has been the introduction of a secret Traitor twist, which added another layer of uncertainty to the game. During a covert mission involving the castle’s family tree, red markings were left behind, a physical clue that could allow observant Faithfuls to start piecing together who was present at key moments. Rather than simplifying the mystery, the twist has heightened paranoia, with players now questioning not just who the Traitors are, but who might know more than they should.

With two traitors already caught, the players must regroup.

Their attention has shifted from loud accusations to subtle behavioural clues about who was where, who asked someone to leave a room, and who suddenly changed their tone when others walked back in. According to Paul, this is exactly the point in the game where small moments can become fatal.

“You are under so much stress and pressure, your mind is racing at a million miles an hour. You start looking for complicated things instead of what’s right in front of you”.

What does Paul think of the secret Traitor twist and does it work?

Paul Traitors

Paul believes the secret Traitor twist is effective precisely because it creates visible evidence that can’t be ignored. He explains that moments around the family tree are especially dangerous for the Traitors, as anyone who witnessed awkward interactions can later connect them to the markings that appear.

“If you’re being weird looking at the family tree and then the next minute there’s dots all over the family tree, you’d be like, ‘Oh well, you two were in here”.

He points out that human behaviour takes over in these situations, even when the logic isn’t airtight.

“Even if it’s not them, they still need to try that theory anyway. That’s human behaviour”.

Paul also believes the twist forces Traitors into difficult decisions far earlier than usual, particularly when someone has seen too much.

“Reece had to be killed. A really quick, clean kill”.

He explains that Reece’s presence during multiple awkward moments, including being asked to leave private conversations, makes him uniquely dangerous.

“When two people want to have a conversation and the guy goes, ‘Do you want me to go?’ What goes through his brain then? To say, ‘Well, why did he want me to go? Because they must have been talking about me”.

For Paul, the twist works because it exposes Traitors to exactly the kind of social scrutiny they try hardest to avoid.

“The first question will be, ‘Well, who was stood there most of the evening?’ And Reece will say, ‘Well, it was Stephen and Rachel”.

Paul believes this is where Traitors often slip up, as social perception matters far more than clever strategy.

“When the traitors are in control, the worst faithful get to the final.”

The secret Traitor twist doesn’t just add drama, it accelerates mistakes.

The secret Traitor rewards observant Faithfuls and forces Traitors into high-risk, high-speed decisions that can unravel their game overnight.

“Eighty per cent of the game is social. It’s about people liking you, not being threatened by you, and wanting you to stay in the game”.\
