As The Traitors moves deeper into Week 3, former Traitor Paul Gorton tells WhichBingo that while one major decision has now been made, the wider consequences are only just beginning to take shape.
Spoiler alert! If you haven’t watched Series 4 Episode 7 aired on Wednesday 14th Jan, you might want to do it now!
“One moment changed everything, but the damage doesn’t land all at once”.
“The fallout is delayed and that’s the danger”
Although Fiona has already paid the price for turning on a fellow Traitor, Paul warned that the real impact of her implosion would come later, a prediction that played out at the latest round table.
“For the cast, all of that chaos happened yesterday, they haven’t had time to fully process it”.
That delay, he says, creates uncertainty rather than clarity.
“What looks explosive to viewers becomes far more dangerous the next morning. That’s when people start asking the right questions and sometimes reaching the wrong conclusions”.
Rachel survives but the Heat On Her hasn’t gone away
Despite being directly challenged by both Harriet and Matty, two of the most respected voices in the game, Rachel emerged from the round table unscathed.
For Paul, that doesn’t mean the danger has passed.
“It’s not about what was said, it’s how it looked. When something feels like traitor-on-traitor, it’s almost impossible to completely shake”.
While Rachel avoided banishment, Paul believes the narrative around her has now been planted.
“She’s survived for now, but once those ideas are out there, they don’t disappear”.
Has Harriet’s sacrifice changed everything?
One of the biggest shocks of episode 7 came when published psychological thriller author Harriet (widely viewed as one of the sharpest faithfuls in the castle) chose to self-sacrifice at the round table.
Before her banishment, Harriet had openly confronted Rachel in the confessional, calling her out as a traitor without hesitation.
For Paul, Harriet’s exit creates a huge vacuum.
“Harriet was the strongest faithful I’ve ever seen” he previously said, and her departure removes the single biggest threat to the Traitors.
“Strong faithfuls usually don’t last, and that’s exactly why she was so dangerous”.
With Harriet gone, Paul believes the balance of power has quietly shifted again.
The Matty dilemma just became more complicated
Matty’s attempt to force the Traitors’ hand by pushing for Jessie’s murder and his own recruitment also played out under scrutiny at the round table.
While suspicion briefly swung his way, Matty survived the vote, keeping him firmly in the game. Paul believes that exposure could now work both for and against him.
“It’s bold. But bold doesn’t always mean smart”.
From a traitor’s perspective, Paul’s stance hasn’t changed.
“If I were in that turret, I’d kill him in a heartbeat. You should never recruit someone stronger than you”.
With Matty now publicly associated with strategic manoeuvring (and strong vest game), Paul believes his next few days will be crucial.
Why Stephen may benefit most from the chaos
While attention has shifted between Rachel, Matty and Harriet, Paul believes Stephen continues to benefit from being difficult to read.
“Stephen is in a strange position where his behaviour can be explained away”.
But Comparing Stephen to Alan Carr (Traitor and winner of Celebrity Traitors), Paul suggests Stephen’s mannerisms still offer protection.
“People will say: “That’s just Stephen being Stephen”, and that kind of ambiguity buys you time in this game”.
With Harriet gone and focus scattered, Paul believes Stephen could quietly move further than many expect.
Paul’s updated Week 3 forecast

With Harriet banished, Rachel surviving scrutiny, and Matty exposed but still standing, Paul believes the game has entered a far more unstable phase.
“The traitors still aren’t dictating the pace. They’re reacting but they’ve just had one of their biggest threats removed”.
Paul’s updated prediction is…
“The next few episodes will be brutal, and the people who feel relieved this morning might be the ones in danger next”.
