So What Actually Is the Dabbers Comedy Caller Contest?

Now in its sixth year, the Dabbers Bingo Comedy Caller Contest is back bigger than ever for 2026.

The contest is one of the most fun bingo events on the calendar – and thanks to our sponsorship, there are some seriously exciting upgrades.

Here’s what’s new this year:

  • The winner takes home £1,500 cash (up from previous years)
  • Free tickets for audiences, plus a complimentary cocktail on arrival (you’re welcome)
  • A brand new host in the shape of the brilliant Katie Pritchard, acclaimed musical comedian and, clearly, a woman with strong opinions about balls

Katie herself sums it up perfectly: “Obsessed with balls? Same. Ping pong balls, disco balls, mozzarella balls — but nothing beats bingo balls! Name a better ball… I’ll wait.”

We can’t argue with that logic.

The contest is looking for 24 rising stars of comedy and cabaret who reckon they’ve got what it takes to mix quick wit, dazzling stage presence, and top-tier bingo calling into one unforgettable show. Think stand-ups, drag artists, cabaret performers, and wildcard characters from all corners of the UK.

Previous contestants have gone on to big things; past entrants include Viggo Venn, Kate Butch, Dan Tiernan, Lorna Rose Treen, Ali Brice, and Amy Webber. With a judging panel that includes agents and festival bookers, this isn’t just a laugh (though it absolutely is that).

The winner also gets the chance to perform at one of the UK’s major summer festivals and guaranteed work at Dabbers Social Bingo for the next 12 months.

As Dabbers MD Jonny Unknown puts it: “Amid all the madness happening in the world, this year’s competition promises a much needed dose of light relief and entertainment — now it’s time to see who will turn our bingo game upside down in their own brilliantly hilarious style.”

If that’s you, get applying. We’d love to see you on that stage.

Why We’re So Excited

If you’ve spent any time with us here at WhichBingo, you’ll know that while we love finding bingo bonuses, we genuinely love bingo; the community, the culture, and the absolute chaos of a brilliant bingo caller working a room.

And that’s exactly what the Dabbers Comedy Caller Contest is all about.

“We’ve been fans of the Comedy Caller Contest for a while, and this year we’re proud to be sponsoring it,” says WhichBingo editor Nic McBride.

“The bingo resurgence is real; millennials now make up nearly 46% of the UK bingo audience, and at the heart of that is the bingo caller. They’re the ones who bring bingo events to life and make bingo what it is.

“This competition shines a light on that talent, and we can’t wait to see who brings the house down.”

And the data backs that up. According to our own WhichBingo 2025 Bingo Players Survey, millennials now account for nearly 46% of the UK bingo-playing audience, with Gen Z numbers climbing steadily. Bingo isn’t your nan’s Tuesday night out anymore (though, for the record, your nan’s Tuesday night out sounds brilliant).

It’s loud, it’s social, it’s hilarious, and the caller is the beating heart of all of it.
