Why play bingo chat games?

If you’re keen to get the most out of your online bingo experience, getting stuck into the wonderful world of chat games will be both enjoyable and rewarding. Fast-paced, sociable and always entertaining, chat games let you while away the time between games, or even during a game, meet other players, have a bit of a laugh and possibly even pick up a prize.

Playing bingo online can be a lonely experience, especially when compared to playing at a bricks and mortar bingo hall. Chat games can help alleviate that feeling of isolation by connecting you with your fellow players and giving you the opportunity to engage in banter, just like you would if you were all sitting around in person.

It’s not just the social benefits that count, though. Most chat games offer prizes in the form of bonus credit so your wallet, as well as your social life, may thank you for giving it a go.

How do bingo chat games work?

To play a bingo chat game, you will need to have the chat window open for your room and make sure you keep an eye on it before and during the game.

Chat games are presided over and led by the Chat Moderator (CM). There are a number of different game types, from quizzes to mini bingo style games. To see what the upcoming games are for any room, jump on into the chat room and keep an eye on the CM. They will post an advance warning when a new game is about to start and let you know the rules. If you’re not sure of anything, don’t be afraid to ask. The other players and moderators are usually very friendly and will be happy to help you out.

Most chat games are free, but rarely you might need to pay a small amount or must have tickets in the upcoming bingo game to participate. This is fairly reasonable considering you’ll be in line for the chance at a bonus if you win.

What are the main types of bingo chat game?

Chat games do vary between bingo sites, but in general you’ll find most of them follow one of the following formats:

  • Roomie or team games: These are great if you’re keen to meet other players. When you play a roomie game you usually team up with one or more other roomies. If one player on the team wins, everyone gets a prize. You might also play a game where if one player wins, the players listed above and below them also win. Another variation we see a lot is when if a player wins the other players whose names start with the same letter as the winner will also get a prize. Whatever happens, team games are great fun and you can expect a lot of banter and laughs along the way.
  • Trivia games: Trivia games are just what they sound like. Quizzes on a number of different random topics and if you’re any good at pub trivia, you’ll love these games. Trivia chat games are led by the chat moderator who will ask a question and the first person to get the right answer will win. Sometimes, to help those not so fast on the keyboard, the winner will be someone maybe 10thor 15th to answer. Questions can be about general knowledge, film, music, TV, popular culture and just about anything else you can think of. Word of warning: you’ll need to be fast if you’re going to get in first and take the prize.
  • Themed games: Like the bingo games themselves, chat games come in all sorts of themes. You can find games themed on the seasons, holidays and current events. You might also find games based on film, TV or sports. Most themed games take the form of quick quizzes or questions where you can show off your specialist knowledge to win a prize. These are sometimes made easier by the answer being shown with missing letters, like the vowels – so everyone has a fair chance.
  • Number games: Don’t worry, you don’t have to be a maths genius to play number chat games. Most of them are more like guessing games where you have to guess which ball will be called first, or last, in the bingo game. Or sometimes, you might be asked to look out for mirrored numbers, like 12 and 21 or 35 and 53. Keep your eye on the ball and you might be able to scoop up a very nice bonus.

While the four game types above are the most common, there are plenty of other chat games you may come across. For example, you might be asked to unscramble anagrams, guess song lyrics or connect two seemingly unconnected words, among other games. It all depends on the creativity of the chat moderators as the games are largely up to them.

Playing bingo online can be a solitary experience and chat games are there to help alleviate that and give you more of a feeling of playing at a real-life bingo hall. If you’re new to online bingo, or if you’ve been around for a while but are yet to dip your toe into the waters of chat games, it’s best just to jump straight in. Chat games might seem a bit intimidating at first, but you won’t regret it!
