Double Delight in Dundee: Player Bags £50K Jackpot at Mecca

Two wins, one after the other
The win came in September and the winner is a familiar face at the Mecca Bingo club in Dundee.
She’d already claimed a prize on the previous game, and the staff were still sorting out that win when she shouted again.
This time she’d dabbed off the last number on her paper ticket for a full house on the National Bingo Game. Because she’d done it within the first 16 numbers called, that full house triggered the £50,000 jackpot.

“The club erupted!”
George Bennett, pictured above, was calling the game that night, and he had a front-row seat for the whole thing.
“We were just processing the previous win when the customer dabbed off the final number on her paper ticket and shouted to claim again,” he said.
“Her friend looked at her and said, ‘I think that’s the jackpot!’ It was so unbelievable, that the winner replied, ‘Don’t be silly! But it was quick!'”
Once George took to the microphone to confirm the £50,000 win, it all sank in.
“The club erupted!” he said. “It was a great atmosphere and the winner looked so shocked. She didn’t speak for about 30 minutes!”
George swapped retail for bingo three years ago, and moments like this are his favourite part of the job.
“The best thing about working here is the excitement of a win,” he said. “The look of disbelief on customers’ faces when their friends point out how much they’ve won. It’s a great feeling, no matter how big the prize is, but the £50k National Bingo Game jackpot is a real cause for celebration!”
