WhichBingo sat down with Kim for a tell all interview, to discuss her reality TV experiences, her career, and what’s kept her in the public eye for so long. Here’s what she had to say…

Q: Let’s start with Big Brother. Your time on the show made a huge impression. Why do you think you connected so well with viewers?
Kim: I’ve never believed being on television makes you special. It’s just a job, like anyone else. I think people connected with me because I’m just myself. I don’t put on airs or pretend to be someone I’m not. I was discovered for television at 61, cleaning the box, and I’m ever so grateful for it. I always remind myself of those years managing week to week, like everyone else. Suddenly, at 61, I didn’t have to, and I’ve never forgotten that. Maybe that’s what people see—a regular woman who just happens to be on telly.
Q: If you had the chance, would you go back on Big Brother?
Kim: I’d do it again! I went on Big Brother in 2017, and while it wasn’t all rosy, it was an experience. I always say I’d go back for the money. Let’s be honest—everyone does it for the money, even if they won’t admit it. But I would. If they offered me good money, I’d go in again, no question.
Q: You’ve also been on I’m A Celebrity…. Which would you prefer to do again: Big Brother or I’m A Celeb?
Kim: Oh, definitely Big Brother—the money was three times as good! The jungle is real—you’re hungry, dirty, and exhausted. But I’d go wherever they pay me the most. That’s the reality of it. I don’t mind the hardships of the jungle, but the money in Big Brother makes it worth it.
Q: Was there anyone on either show that surprised you by how well you got along with them?
Kim: Do you think I got on with anyone? (laughs) I’m a loner. I don’t make many friends because I don’t need them. I had acquaintances, like Sam Fox and Lucy Benjamin—they were lovely to work with. But mates? No, we’re all there for the money. I’m cautious, and I don’t pretend to be best friends with people just because we’ve shared a TV show.

Q: You’re known for your no-nonsense attitude. Do you still feel the same energy to put people in their place?
Kim: Absolutely. If someone’s out of line, I’ll say it. I can’t sit there quietly while others look around and do nothing. If someone’s wrong, I’ll call them out on it. At my age, with a few bob in the bank, I don’t have to tolerate nonsense. I’ve done my share of crawling to bosses when I needed the money, but now I can speak my mind, and that’s exactly what I do.
Q: Do you think younger people in the industry feel more pressure to watch what they say?
Kim: It depends on the situation. If someone’s in a position where they can’t afford to lose their job, they should probably bite their tongue. I did that for years. But if you’re financially secure, there’s no reason not to speak your mind. You’ve got to know when to fight your battles.
Q: You’ve done a lot of iconic reality shows—Big Brother, I’m A Celeb—but is there any show you’d love to do?
Kim: (laughs) Well, I won’t be doing Love Island, that’s for sure! I can’t stand those thong bikinis. But if I could choose, I’d love to do a consumer show about cleaning products. I’d be brutally honest—some of the expensive ones are worth it but some aren’t worth it, and sometimes the cheaper ones are just as good. I’d test vacuum cleaners, cleaning sprays, all of it, and give people the real truth.
New customers only. Up to 200 spins over 4 day period from first deposit & spend of £10. Max 50 spins each day on Fishin’ BIGGER Pots of Gold at 10p per spin for 4 consecutive days. Deposit & spend £10 each day for 50 spins. Spins credited upon spend of £10 each day. 18+ Full T&Cs apply.
Q: Finally, what are you watching on TV right now?
Kim: I’m watching Big Brother, of course! The personalities on there are fascinating. There’s a girl named Ali, a psychiatrist, but she’s had so many breakdowns already! You’d think she’d be able to handle it, but I don’t know… it’s interesting to see how people change as the show goes on.

Charlie Shakespeare is on his travels again (he doesn’t sit still for a minute, does he!). This time, Charles is in the big smoke to uncover the magic of the famous venue: the Hippodrome. Opened over 120 years ago, the Hippodrome has been everything from an arena with a 100,000-gallon water tank sunk into the floor to where escapologist Harry Houdini performed in 1904, and a Peter Stringfellow-run club. Now, father…

But, the survey of over 500 UK residents also revealed that nearly 64% of people agree that spending money isn’t a valid measurement of love. The honeymoon phase with dating apps is officially over. As Valentine’s Day approaches, Brits admit they still think the day is relevant, but are ready to leave apps behind.
