Special features
Jackpot Bonus Game
The Jackpot Bonus Game is triggered by hitting 3 or more scatter symbols anywhere on reels 2, 3 and 4. You are taken to a separate screen where twelve shields are shown face down, each of which conceals a coloured player symbol linked to one of the 4 jackpots (Grand, Major, Minor, Min). Cards are selected one at a time, and when 3 matching shields have been revealed, the corresponding jackpot prize is awarded and the feature ends.
Champion Symbol
The Champion Symbol is an additional player symbol that is superimposed on the reels. It starts on the bottom centre position and is marked with a frame. During base play, the Action Reel spins at the same time as the main reels, and when it scores a ‘goal’ by an action symbol landing on the middle position at the top of reel 3, the Champion Symbol moves according to that direction, leaving a frame in place and adding a further frame in its new position.
Adding 15x frame symbols to the reels pays out 2,200x total bet (up to £110,000).
Action Reel
The Action Reel appears above the reels and spins horizontally. When it stops spinning, a symbol appears in the goal at the top of reel 3, and this determines the movement of the Champion symbol, or triggers the Blazing Wild Streak feature.
There are four symbols on the Action Reel:
- Blank — The Champion symbol remains in its current position
- Dribble — The Champion symbol moves to a random adjacent position
- Pass — The Champion symbol moves to a random non-adjacent position
- Shoot — The Blazing Wild Streak feature is activated, with the displayed multiplier coming into play
Blazing Wild Streak Feature
When the Shoot symbol lands on the Action Reel, 1 re-spin is awarded. All symbols that have a frame superimposed become Wild for the re-spin, with all wins are multiplied by the value that was displayed on the Shoot symbol.
The Action Reel is not active during the Blazing Wild Streak Feature.
Graphics and Sounds
If you are expecting to see the strips of Manchester United, Real Madrid or Inter Milan, or famous players like Ronaldo, Messi or Harry Kane, you are going to be disappointed. Instead, the symbols are a range of generalised images associated with football, such as a winner’s medal, keeper gloves and football boots. You do, however, have the option of customising the colour of shirt that the player in the Champion Symbol wears.
The soundtrack is a throbbing techno beat backed with loud and vibrant crowd noise throughout, with cheers and chants interspersed with interjections from a commentator, saying things like “This team did great during the qualifying stages,” “The tension in the air is palpable,” and “Let’s see what this team can do.” There are also additional comments in other European languages as well.
Conclusion
This is undoubtedly one of Gameburger Studios’ best games, and as such it has broad appeal. Anyone who prefers high volatility games, for instance, will enjoy the different opportunities for big wins that the game offers both during base play and in the bonus rounds (especially in the Jackpot Bonus Game), but like all Gameburger Studios slots, the extra features don’t interrupt the flow of the main game too much. The game looks good and is imaginatively designed, so it will appeal to football fans, while the soundtrack is a highlight as it keeps the energy levels and engagement high.
