Golden Dragon Inferno Slot Review
One of a growing number of slots featuring an Ancient Chinese theme, BetSoft’s Golden Dragon Inferno was first released in November 2022. Like all BetSoft slots, the production values are high and it features bright and colourful reels and symbols in bold red and gold, backed by a stylish soundtrack.
Golden Dragon Inferno has wild and bonus symbols, a free spins feature, plus wild reels and mystery symbols, so the gameplay is always changing and highly engaging. It’s a medium volatility slot with a 96.41% RTP and a 71.39% hit rate, and there is a wide range of wager sizes so the game is accessible to all.

How to play
Golden Dragon Inferno is a 5 reel, 3 row, 243 ways-to-win video slot, where wins pay left to right on adjacent reels in any combination. Wagers range in size from £0.25 to £25.00 per spin, with wins paid as multiples of the total bet.
- Wild symbols appear on reels 2, 3, 4 and 5 only
- Wild symbol substitutes for all other symbols (except t= Hold & Win Bonus symbols)
- Stacked Mystery symbols will be replaced by the same paying symbol in all positions after a spin is complete
- There are 4 Bonus symbols — one with a prize value (1x – 10x), plus Mini, Minor and Major Bonus symbols
- Hitting 6x or more Bonus symbols anywhere on the reels triggers the Hold & Win Bonus feature
- Hitting 5x Green, Orange, Purple or Blue symbols = 1.2x total bet (up to £30)
- Hitting 5x Ace, King, Queen or Jack symbols = 0.8x total bet (up to £20)
Jackpot
The maximum jackpot win on Golden Dragon Inferno is 2,000x total bet, which is worth £50,000 when betting the max. The jackpot is won when all 15 symbols are locked in place as Bonus symbols during the Hold & Win Bonus feature.
Special features
Hold & Win Bonus
The Hold & Win Bonus feature is triggered by hitting 6x or more Bonus symbols anywhere on the reels. You are automatically awarded 3 free spins, and whenever a Bonus symbol is hit, that reel locks in place and the number of free spins is reset to 3.
The feature ends when there are no free spins remaining, or all 15 symbols on the reels have become locked. Each Bonus symbol then pays out at the following rate:
- Value Bonus symbols = 1x – 10x total bet (up to £250)
- Mini Bonus symbol = 15x total bet (up to £375)
- Minor Bonus symbol = 30x total bet (up to £750)
- Minor Bonus symbol = 200x total bet (up to £5,000)
If all 15 symbols are locked as Bonus symbols, the Grand Jackpot prize of 2,000x total bet (up to £50,000) is awarded.
Nudging Multiplier Wild Reel
When you hit a partial stack of wild symbols on reel 3, it can nudge up or down so that the entire reel turns wild. The Wild symbol then substitutes for all other symbols, except the Hold & Win Bonus symbols. The Wild reel also awards a random multiplier of 2x, 3x, 5x, 8x or 10x.
If there is no win when the Multiplier Wild Reel is in play, it will become sticky and remain in place for a free re-spin.
Graphics and Sounds
Although perhaps not as visually captivating as some slots in the BetSoft portfolio, this is nevertheless a very impressive looking game. Dominated by deep red and bright gold colours in the traditional Chinese style, the game features dragons and other lucky symbols (in contrasting primary colours), with pulsating animations on winning spins. However, the playing card symbols (A, K, Q, J) do seem a little out of place.
The soundtrack features stylish traditional music, with bells, cymbals and crescendos on winning spins, and adds to the overall atmosphere.
Conclusion
When compared to some games in the BetSoft slots portfolio, the gameplay in Golden Dragon Inferno is relatively straightforward. However, the wild symbols, wild reels and stacked mystery symbols mean that there is plenty of variety in the base game, while the Hold & Win Bonus feature is fast moving and provides significant payouts. The game also offers a good RTP and hit rate, so the engagement levels are always high, while the large range of coin sizes means this is a game that anyone can access.
Overall, this is the sort of slot that those who prefer more straightforward forms of gameplay will enjoy, and you can check out Golden Dragon Inferno for yourself at any of our recommended UK casino sites.
