Reel Spooky King Megaways Slot Review
Inspired Gaming’s Reel Spooky King Megaways is a 6-reel slot that’s based on the developer’s original Reel King Megaways game.
The “Spooky” version has been released just in time for Halloween and it comes complete with tongue-in-cheek ghoulish graphics and sound effects.
Like most Megaways titles, Reel Spooky King Megaways offers you up to 117,649 ways to win with each spin. There are also cascades that help your funds to go further while also increasing the number of wins you can create.
Extra cascades trigger Super or Mega King Bonus upgrades while there’s the opportunity to light the King’s reels to advance along the free spins trail. You can also win up to 25 free spins with an unlimited win multiplier and sticky lit reels while 6 yellow reels trigger the thrilling Reel King feature.
You can play the Reel Spooky King Megaways slot on mobiles and desktops with bets of 20p to £20 per spin, and the game’s RTP is acceptably high at 95.56%.
How to Play
While the layout of Reel Spooky King Megaways may seem a little unusual if you’ve never played a Megaways slot before, it’s actually quite easy to get to trips with.
The first thing you need to do is choose how much you wish to pay for each spin. You can change the default stake by clicking the icon containing three piles of coins. Here, you’ll find 14 different options: 20p, 40p, 60p, 80p, £1, £2, £3, £4, £5, £6, £8, £10, £15 and £20. Don’t forget that you can also increase or decrease your bet at any point, provided that it’s between spins.
For those of you who wish to play hands-free, there’s an Auto-Play button next to the Spin button. It allows you to set the required number of spins (5, 10, 25, 50, 75 or 100) and set loss and win limits.
There’s also a volume button that lets you turn the sound effects and music on and off.
The symbols on the reels of this game are:

Special features
Reel Spooky King Megaways comes with plenty of exciting special features that are designed to make the game more enjoyable and (hopefully) give you decent returns.
Megaways
We’ve seen Megaways in many other video slots including Blueprint Gaming’s Diamond Mine and Big Time Gaming’s Bonanza, but the number of Megaways can differ from game to game.
In Reel Spooky King Megaways, you have 6 reels, each of which can hold up to 7 symbols. There’s also a horizontal row that sits on top of the reels that can hold 4 symbols.
Depending on how many symbols land on each spin, you can benefit from as many as 117,649 ways to win.
Wins are created by landing matching symbols on adjacent reels, starting with reel 1. Matching symbols (and wild symbols) that appear in the upper row can also help to create wins on the main reel set beneath.
Cascades
In both the base game and the Free Spins Bonus, each time that a win occurs, the winning symbols get removed to let new ones replace them. The process is referred to as a cascade, and provided that consecutive wins occur, the feature continues until no more wins are possible.
Lit Reels
Lit Reels, which are also called “Dings” allow any of the 6 reels to light up from left to right. New cascades light up an additional reel, and when all 6 reels have turned yellow, the Reel King feature is awarded. However, if you manage to achieve one or two extra cascades after all 6 reels have lit up, you get to play the Super King feature or the Spooky King feature respectively.
Reel King Feature
The Reel King, Super King and Spooky King features use 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 3 to 6 3-reel mini-slots respectively. Each slot spins only blanks and pumpkin symbols. The mini-games also feature “Dings” and if you lit all 3 reels, you begin your journey along the Free Spins Trail. A losing spin, however, causes the mini-slot to disappear.
Free Spins Bonus
You can either accept the number of free spins that you’re awarded or gamble them in the hopes of winning more by spinning a wheel.
Each cascade that you achieve in the Free Spins Bonus bumps the win multiplier up by x1 and there is no limit to how high it can go. Each cascade turns one reel red, and if all six are lit while the Free Spins Bonus is still active, you receive an extra 1 to 3 free spins and a multiplier boost of up to x3.
Spin Chance
The Spin Chance feature is optional, but it can come in handy when your funds are running low. When your remaining balance falls below your chosen stake amount, you can gamble for the chance to win one more spin. To win, the arrow must land on the green zone of the Spin Chance bar.
Graphics and Sounds
A haunted house deep in the countryside under a full moon is the location in which you find yourself when you play Reel Spooky King Megaways. There’s also a suitably spectral soundtrack that stands out from other Reel King slots.
The symbols are formed of playing card symbols and fruits, each of which has a Halloween-inspired flourish.
Conclusion
Although in essence, it’s only a reskin of Reel King Megaways, Reel Spooky King Megaways is a joy to play thanks to its abundance of bonus features and comically gory theme. It’s a great slot to play around Halloween, and if things go your way, you could end up with some tasty treats!
Reel Spooky King Megaways is available to play at Ladbrokes Bingo and The Sun Bingo now.
