Kingdoms Rise Forbidden Forest Slot Review
Kingdoms Rise is a new series of slot games from Playtech — Guardians of the Abyss, Forbidden Forest and Sands of Fury, with more to follow during 2020.
These games contain a number of innovative new features including in-game currency to purchase access to special features using the game tokens.
Set in a series of different fantasy worlds, players can immerse themselves in three different kingdoms depending on the game chosen to play, each with its own diverse set of characters, each with their own personalities, roles and detailed backstories.
The sound effects for each game are well thought out and suit the games perfectly. The music is inventive and immersive too and helps to create a sense of the world the game represents. The special effects and soundtracks during bonus rounds aid the excitement of achieving the bonus.
The games feature unique and innovative gameplay and each game has its own distinct special features to help it stand out from the others and to enhance the game and provide a range of opportunities for more wins and bigger payouts.
Each game lets players wager from just 10p, but rises to a phenomenal £2,000 per spin.
You will be playing for three different networked progressive jackpots in the Kingdoms Rise games: Epic, Power Strike and Daily Strike. These are triggered at random so any spin of any amount could lead to a jackpot payout (although the larger the bet, the greater the chance of winning).
The games feature the innovative Kingdom’s Rise Features Shop. Normal gameplay will see you awarded up to 15 tokens at any one time and these can be collected to purchase in-game features that may help achieve more wins. Most features start from 300 tokens, but they can be used at any time as you play.
How to play
Forbidden Forest is a 5 reel, 576 ways to win video slot game where 10 ‘lines’ are automatically in play on each spin. Wins are multiples of the coins bet, with wagers ranging in size from 10p to £2,000 per spin.
- Wild symbol substitutes for all other symbols
- 5x Jayna symbols = 200x coin bet (up to £40,000)
- 5x Kiera symbols = 50x coin bet (up to £10,000)
- 5x Liana symbols = 35x coin bet (up to £7,000)
The Owl Respins
Hitting 1, 2 or 3 Owl symbols on reels 2, 3 and 4 triggers The Owl Respin feature. The number of free spins awarded and how many roaming Owl symbols are in play depends on how many symbols trigger the bonus. Up to 12 free spins can be awarded and up to 3 Owl symbols can become roaming wilds, changing position on each free spin.
Graphics and Sound
The three main characters in Forbidden Forest — Jayna, Kiera and Liana — are all warrior princesses, while the other symbols include an owl, a bear and a wolf. The overall colour scheme is emerald green, as befits the woodland setting, while the music is an ethereal combination of strings and pan pipes.
Like all of the games in the series, the visuals and sound effects go up a notch when The Owl Respins feature is in play, and the roaming wild symbols are especially impressive.
Playtech has once again pulled out all the stops to bring another series of groundbreaking games. The company does not release many games in a year, but when they do they are spectacular in their concept.
The visuals and audio are stunning during normal gameplay, but to improve further during bonus rounds is mind-boggling!
We love the variety of progressive jackpots on offer and the added excitement this brings, plus the fact that you can win big during base play and not just during bonus rounds. You can also achieve multiple wins from a single spin which is a good feature.
Over time players will pick their favourite game from the series, but it won’t be an easy decision as each has so much to recommend it.
