Stumpy McDoodles Review
If you’re fan of Irish-themed Microgaming slots, then you have probably already played such titles as Lucky Leprechaun, Irish Eyes and Celtic Crown. Now you can add another title to this list – Stumpy McDoodles.
If there is one more thing that the slotting world needs, it’s another Irish-themed online video slot. There are only several dozen of the things already, and before Stumpy McDoodles there hadn’t been an Irish-themed online slot released for, oh, at least a week.
The saturation of the slots market by Irish-themed slots has not put Microgaming off, though, despite them already having released plenty of Irish-themed slots themselves. If you’re fan of Irish-themed Microgaming slots, then you have probably already played such titles as Lucky Leprechaun, Irish Eyes and Celtic Crown. Now you can add another title to this list – Stumpy McDoodles.

How to Play
Stumpy McDoodles is an online video slot with five reels but with four rows as opposed to the more common number of three. There are twenty paylines in total and all are in play at all times, and the game costs twenty coins per spin.
There is a special meter than you can use to ramp up your chances of free spins. Choosing this option will double your base game and free games multipliers, however using it comes at a price, as doing so will add 50 percent onto your game stake.
You can ‘buy’ free spins as a feature at any time, at a rate of five spins for one hundred coins.
To start a spin, choose your coin size first, which is anything from 0.01 to 2.00. Remember that each spin costs twenty coins. To kick things off, just hit the spin button.
A golden ‘W’ marks the wild symbol in this game. This symbol substitutes for all others aside from the scatter symbol.
- 5 x Wild symbols = 400 coins (max £800)
- 5 x Stumpy McDoodles symbols = 250 coins (max £500)
- 5 x Penny McDoodles symbols = 200 coins (max £400)
- 5 x Shamrock symbols = 150 coins (max £300)

- 5 x Ace symbols = 100 coins (max £200)
- 5 x King symbols = 100 coins (max £200)
- 5 x Queen symbols = 50 coins (max £100)
- 5 x Jack symbols = 50 coins (max £100)
- 5 x Ten symbols = 50 coins (max £100)
Jackpot
This game is not generous enough to have a progressive jackpot.
Special Features
Stumpy Random Wilds
This feature may be triggered randomly upon any spin during the base game. A pot of gold will spin into view to award a win multiplier between 2x and 5x. In addition, between three and eight wilds will be added to the reels in random positions for one spin. All prizes awarded by the spin are multiplied by the multiplier. You can still trigger free spins during this feature.
Rainbow Respin
If you land two scatters on the reels, then the reel without a scatter (scatters can only land on reels 1, 3 or 5) will be re-spun once in the hope of landing the third scatter.
Free Spins
If you land three scatters on reels 1, 3 and 5 then you are awarded five free spins (which can also be bought, as mentioned previously). On each free spin you have the chance to collect coins. There are two types of coins available: wild coins and multiplier coins. Free spins begin with a single shifting wild on the reels and a multiplier of 1x. Shifting wilds shift along one reel at every spin.
Free Spins: Coin Collection
- Wild coin 1: Two shifting wilds on the reels
- Wild coin 2: Three bonus free spins awarded and three shifting wilds on the reels
- Wild coin 3: Four shifting wilds on the reels
- Wild coin 4: Four shifting wilds form a 2×2 block of symbols, and three further free spins are awarded
Free Spins: Progressive Multiplier
The fabled pot of gold can appear during free spins to reveal a multiplier coin worth 1x, 2x or 3x. Each new multiplier is added to the running multiplier value. All wins are multiplied by the current multiplier level.
Graphics and Sounds
You may be tempted to dance a jig every time you play Stumpy McDoodles, even if you don’t win, such is the effectiveness of the music played during this game. You are also given encouragement by Penny McDoodles herself during play, who really gets excited when (and if) you start winning big amounts.
The graphics are truly excellent too, making this one of Microgaming’s best-looking slots, period.
Conclusion
We don’t care if there are just too many Irish-themed slots around already or not, Stumpy McDoodles is a very nice game. We’re not too sure about ‘buying’ free spins, but that’s perfect for people short of slotting patience!
Why not judge Stumpy McDoodles for yourself, and see if you can become as fortunate as an Irishman at one of our recommended, bingo sites, casino sites or slots sites?
