A seismic shift is underway in the world of UK bingo, latest data from the 2025 WhichBingo Bingo Players Survey has uncovered.
Millennials are now the dominant force in bingo, breathing vibrant life into this beloved British pastime.
For years, bingo has been synonymous with an older demographic. However, our comprehensive survey, polling 1,200 UK players, shows that the 29-44 age bracket – the millennials – are now leading the charge.

Millennials were the leading demographic for in-person bingo players, online bingo players, as well as players who did a mix of online and in-person.
Millennials Across the Board
Millennials were found to be the largest active player base for bingo, making up a staggering 46% of all players, dwarfing Gen X (28.9%) and Baby Boomers (10%).
It’s probably no surprise that millennials made up 49% of online bingo players – but this isn’t just an online phenomenon either.
Millennials made up 40.2% of UK in-person bingo players as well. Gen X follows at 31.1% in halls, indicating that middle-aged adults are increasingly embracing the social allure of a night out at bingo.
Why the sudden surge in millennials?
A combination of factors is at play – the 2025 Survey shows that “entertainment” (43%) is the primary driver for players, followed by “socialising” (28.4%). The “pride of winning” came in third at 17%.
All of this aligns perfectly with a generation that values experiences and communal activities.
Furthermore, the rise of “party bingo events” is a clear draw for younger players, with 32.7% of respondents having attended one within the past 12 months. Bingo events like Bongo’s Bingo and Bingo Loco are transforming the traditional game into a full-blown spectacle, complete with rave intervals, dance-offs, and unconventional prizes.
“A Fun, Social Experience”
WhichBingo’s Charlie Shakespeare has seen firsthand how the younger generations have reinvented bingo.
“It’s energetic, interactive, and often has DJs and quirky prizes. It’s less about the serious dabbing and more about a fun, social experience.”
Charlie has toured the country exploring the exciting new face of bingo events in the UK in the WhichBingo series Dabbing Out.
Bingo events like Bongo’s Bingo can get hundreds of players per session, evidence of the growing popularity among millennials as well as Gen Z.
The Generation Game
With more younger players getting involved, the game is becoming a mix of ages.
“Increasingly we are seeing groups of players attending Bingo Clubs representing up to three generations, grandchildren, parents, and grandparents!” Bingo Association Chief Executive Miles Baron said.
He said they were seeing a significant increase in players aged between 35 – 44, making bingo a game for everyone.
“Bingo is increasingly for all ages!” he said.
A Seamless Fit
The survey also sheds light on convenience as a key factor.
While in-person bingo thrives, mobile remains the device of choice for 77.4% of online players. The ability to play a quick game from bed (42%), while watching TV (43.3%), or even in the pub (34.7%) highlights how seamlessly bingo fits into the modern millennial lifestyle.
In Conclusion
This demographic shift signals a fascinating evolution for the bingo industry. As millennials continue to embrace and redefine the game, bingo is cementing its place as a vibrant, social, and surprisingly modern form of entertainment for generations to come.
The message is clear: bingo isn’t just for your grandma anymore – it’s for everyone.
