At WhichBingo, we obviously love exploring all the best new casino sites out there so how can we fail to love a good casino-themed movie. Luckily there have been many throughout the years and so we decided to rank our top five films that feature our favourite pastime.
21 (2008)
For some reason the greatest casino movies often include a heist. For obvious reaasons that heist usually takes place in Las Vegas. Taking inspiration from other casino heist films (which we’ll come to later in this list), Robert Luketic’s 2008 movie 21 features Sin City, blackjack, and lots of drama. Stars Kevin Spacey and Jim Sturgess.
The most astonishing thing about 21, however, is that it’s inspired by the true story of the MIT Blackjack Team; a group of students from Harvard University who used card counting techniques to get the upper hand over casinos around the world.

21 truly deserved the $160million it made at the box office!
The Hangover (2009)
Casinos don’t always have to be so serious, and that’s certainly the case in The Hangover.
Each film in the hilarious trilogy starring Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis had a Las Vegas backdrop, and casinos were a constant thread throughout.
The first film was shot in Nevada in just fifteen days, but it remains a modern comedy classic.

Casino Royale (2006)
For our third entry on the list we’re taking things shaken, not stirred with Daniel Craig’s first appearance as OO7 James Bond. Casino Royal was the twenty-first film in the Bond franchise, and yet the third screen adaptation of Ian Fleming’s book.
In 1967, the suave and debonair David Niven starred as ‘Sir’ James Bond in an ‘unofficial’ Casino Royale film, and before that in 1954, American actor Barry Nelson starred in a TV adaptation of the book, an entire eight-years before Sean Connery appeared in the first ‘official’ Eon Productions Bond film, Dr. No.
Featuring a Texas hold ’em tournament and plenty of casino backdrops, this isn’t just a Bond-masterpiece, but it’s unquestionably one of the great casino movies of all-time.
Casino (1995)
Has a Martin Scorsese film starring Robert De Niro ever been bad? Well, their eighth collaboration together is certainly a classic!
Casino also stars Joe Pesci and Sharon Stone, who was nominated for an Academy Award and won a Golden Globe for her role as De Niro’s wife.
Exploring the Mafia’s connections in Las Vegas, the film follows a gambling expert handicapper as he navigates his job through the years.
Like any Scorsese drama, you need to put aside three-hours to watch this movie, but it’s three-hours you’ll never forget.

Ocean’s 11 (1960) and Ocean’s Eleven (2001)
Whether it’s the 1960 original starring The Rat Pack, or Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 remake starring George Clooney, Matt Damon, Brad Pitt and Julia Roberts, Ocean’s 11 is the ultimate casino film.
Possibly the OG of big-budget heist movies, Ocean’s 11 has stood the test of time and continues to appeal to multiple generations.
Ocean’s is possibly the crème de la crème of casino heist films because in both the original and the remake, the character Danny Ocean plans on robbing multiple renowned casinos in one huge simultaneous heist.
Of the five Las Vegas casinos and hotels featured in the 1960 original, only two are still open today, whereas the 2001 remake features The Bellagio, The Mirage, and The MGM Grand.
The 2001 movie led to two sequels – Ocean’s Twelve (2004) and Ocean’s Thirteen (2007) – and that testosterone-filled trilogy inspired an all-female spin-off in 2018. Ocean’s 8 features an ensemble cast of Hollywood’s finest actresses and instead of stealing from a Nevada casino, the ladies plan a heist at New York’s iconic Met Gala
Ocean’s Eleven (the remake) was released 41 years after Ocean’s 11 (the original), which means surely another edition is due very soon in 2042.
