Dabbers’ All-New ‘Bingo Comedy Caller’ Comp Kicks Off

Dabbers’ All-New ‘Bingo Comedy Caller’ Comp Kicks Off

If you’ve ever been to one of Dabbers Social Bingo’s three London locations (City, Hackney and Soho, since you asked), you’ll be familiar with its unique blend of classic bingo mixed with crackin’ comedy, jazzy jams, drag artists and colourful character acts.

Well apparently, the way to a bingo player’s heart is through… laughter? Dabbers seem to think so, by looking for its next permanent comedy bingo caller performer!

Welcome to the launch of the all-new ‘Bingo Comedy Caller’ competition. The winner scoops a £1k prize plus a 12 month contract at Dabbers! Could you take centre stage? We’ve got all the details.

A Lorra Lorra Laughs

Since 2019, Dabbers annual caller competition, under its previous title Dabbers Next Top Bingo Caller, has been known for cultivating comedy greatness. Past winners and finalists include Kate Butch from RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 5, BGT 2023 winner Viggo Venn, and Radio 4 comedian Amy Webber. Now, with the British Comedy Guide on board as media partner and final judge, this year’s ‘Bingo Comedy Caller’ competition has gone all-in on the comedy. It’s set to be the credential of the year.

To champion the evolution of the competition, Dabbers Creative Director, Jonny Unknown, explains:

“[…] we’ve found that every year, the entrants who did best […] were essentially bringing their best comedic powers to the stage. So we gave the name and nature of the competition a rebrand to better reflect both the entrants and the competition”.

How to Apply

If you think you’ve got what it takes to have bingo players daubing their tears of laughter then daubing their bingo tickets, and fancy yourself a permanent spot on the stage, here’s what’s involved:

  • Prepare a 15-minute bingo game including 45 bingo calls.
  • Think about challenges, games, and music that will complement your set.
  • Tell Dabbers about your act and upload a short video showcasing your best bingo-lingo or a clip of you performing on stage.
  • Sign up on the Dabbers website here before the application deadline on March 8th!

Mark Your Calendar

If you think you’ve got the perfect blend of comic talent and bingo calling skills, dust off your comedy chops, polish your bingo calls, and get ready to wow the judges and audience at the Dabbers’ Bingo Comedy Caller competition!

You must be free to audition at Dabbers HQ in Houndsditch EC3 on select Sundays in April and May. The competition heats up with semi-finals in June, leading up to the grand finale on July 7th.

On the other hand you may just want to go along and have some fun as the experts do their thing

So, what are you waiting for? With that juicy cash prize and contract with Dabbers Social Bingo up for grabs, this is a comedy + bingo opportunity you won’t want to miss, either as an entrant or a spectator.
